Any noticeable difference in ride height? Can you feel the extra weight on acceleration, braking, etc.? Are the wheels direct bolt on? Any rubbing?

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm thinking the same set up.
The place I got them had done this same setup once before and assured me it would work. It looks amaZing. Feels like an official "X" car and not just the cheapest bimmer.

PM me if you'd like for the info on where I got it. The price was good with name brand tires (Hankook V12) but with an Achilles, Nexen or a Nankang, something like that, you could likely save about $350.

Tire height difference is approximately .7", and that equates to .35" ride height increase. However small, you can feel it in a good way. I feel a slightly more commanding position. And at the same time the wheel wells are filled out. Brilliant!!

Ride comfort is surprisingly unchanged. It is a supple tire I bought, but I've had the identical sizes on my E90 using an Achilles ATR Sport tire and it was also very quiet. That might be more of a tire review than a wheel size increase review. But the 19's are great comfort with the 40 sidewall up front and huge 275/35 out back. Only .2" smaller sidewall than it had with the 18's.

The cornering feels different. It doesn't wait a second to respond. It's responsive the way a sport package bimmer ought to be. It took a few miles to get used to it but now I love it. My wife text me when she got to work thanking me for the setup.

Interestingly we installed the JB N20/N26 stage 1 tuner at the same time, so it feels much faster. Not sure how it would've felt on the stock tires and wheels.

I'm so in love with this setup. If this is how the M-Sport looked I would've sprung for it originally.

The X1 is looking more and more like an Acura MDX and Porsche Cayenne mixed..

I dont know. I have a current generation X5 and they just look so much nicer than the X1.

Maybe its just me. Not feeling it.

It's a better looking car in person. I don't care too much since its my wife's and I personally choose it over my nicely modded 335d when running errands. As is its a hell of a fun car. The JB tune really brings it to life and the wider rubber grips nicely.

I think you have the perfect setup. 19's with the tire package you chose makes the car look showroom stock but with a slight mod.

Daaaang... you guys are having me rethink my rim selection.

Any rub issues?

Is that an M sport or did you have the trim painted? If painted, do you have any instructions/documented thread? I want to do mine to match body style.

The GM at our dealership asked me to send him pics of the X1 and the rim/tire package and apparently has that in his back pocket for improving X1's on the lot that don't sell. Pretty cool!

Austin,

I have 19x8.5 ET30's coming, do you think I can run the 245/40's up front (in back they will fit)? I'm worried that your offset of 37 is providing you the clearance for turning whereas my more aggressive offset of 30 may impact that?

James,
The wheel size you ordered is going to protrude or perfectly match the outer edge of the body panel.
37 ET up front for us has about 5mm of tuck.
However, the wheels that we both have seem custom for for the X1. Aggressive but almost M-Sport quality for and finish and overall appearance.

If you're serious about and it's a possibility, you can buy the rim and tire package that we both have used and know works great and looks as you can see in the pics.

If it's something that is still an option and what you think would be good in the long run, do it!!

You won't like the protruding front ET... It'll look tacky (in my opinion) and make it obvious that the wheel fitment is not quite right. The X1 body panels up front aren't flattering in that situation, however out back you could probably add spacers with the 8.5... Just my personal opinion.

If interested (anyone for that matter), Audio City in La Puente is listed on google- call and ask for Fabricio and tell him his buddy Austin with the BMW's sent you. You have pics to send him from the forums to make sure he knows the wheel, but I have a feeling he will know. And tire wise I can only comment on my setup. It works perfectly.
245/40/19 front
275/35/19 rear

I would go with Hankook V12, Continental DWS or DW, or Michelin Pilot SS tires in order of cheapest to most expensive. But if you have snow to deal with, I have no idea

I see you're in San Marcos... I'd give Fabricio @ Audio City a call and arrange a time to come in and get it all installed. It'll be plenty affordable in comparison to the other deal you're working out with the wrong ET. You can see in both the silver and black car above, you wouldn't want a lower ET. In fact, without mud flaps, I felt it was a tiny bit too low ET to begin with. Just my opinion, but I like aggressive yet OEM look and feel, some people prefer the aftermarket look.

I had one as a courtesy car recently for a week. Did plenty of driving and have to say that it was a joy to drive. It's a bit small for me, but nevertheless, tidy little motor.
