lowering x1 35i

i was looking for previous thread on lowering the x1, i read that you can use another model car springs on x1, as h and r has it available in Europe, does anyone have info on this and how much it lowers it, i remember x drive 3 series being the vehicle, thanks for the help

IMNSHO, the best way to lower an X1 35i is to trade it in for a 335i Sports Wagon.
I can see some buying an X1 to rake it, but lower it all over?

Endless Details has lowered his 3". I wouldn't do it personally, but it looks better than the F31 wagon IMO.

Everyone of all ages and styles has liked it a lot... Everyone that comes to the shop loves it and has expressed interest in it. Most people were iffy before it was lowered because the X1 has a high ride height for its size especially the M Package ones... Once I lowered it everyone's tune changed and says that this is how it should have come. And for you all anti lowering SUV people, it is my daily, it has snows on, and there is nowhere I haven't been able to go with it including a rutted gravel driveway 1,000 feet long through the woods and it handles close to the way my e92 did.

As nospam says, Endless Details lowered his with E9x xDrive KW items. I've since picked up X1 specific KW's and noted a couple of the differences HERE

Honestly, it drives much better. At least in standard form (can't speak as to lowering it).

We modify all of our vehicles... My X1 drives great. It handles way better than stock. It does naturally ride a bit stiffer due to being on coilovers but I also run my shocks and struts pretty firm. The V3s can be adjusted much softer and would ride better than stock if you wanted. I live in CT and had it out all day Friday as Nemo rolled in and it was fine. I run blizzaks on the factory 18s. It is a blast to drift in the snow as well and handled it great.

And in terms of handling, if the COG is lower and the springs stiffer, it will handle better and ride rougher...not rocket science.

If this was something like an X5, I agree lowering wouldn't make sense. But this is already basically a wagon, not really a SUV. Maybe I'm crazy because I plan on tracking mine, but I plan on lowering it to reduce the center of gravity and reduce handling. Plus it looks much better lowered.

Lowering and tuning the car basically turns it into a M135i x-drive.

Where did you end up height wise on the rear? Will you be adding spacers or switching out wheels at any point?

first this is the only wagon/suv you can buy from bmw this small with the 35i motor and msport pkg. also at 6" lower which i wont keep it this low all the guys at the bmw dealership couldnt believe how well the car drove after the install of the kw v1 coilovers better that stock in smoothness and handling. iam raise it a little when its counter balanced on monday. also para ran a 12.1 1/4 mile time tonight. yes i will add spacers to push rims out to be flush. new pictures monday also 1.6sec 60ft time thats why x drive some people will never understand
this wagon suv car is the best!!!!

It's so funny because one wouldn't think a "parts bin" car would be so good, and a lot of people view it as an ugly duckling.

But there is just absolutely nothing else on the market that has the blend of performance, luxury, practicality, and price. A lot of cars have three of those things, but not all four.

Hell, it even has 49/51 weight distribution and you can power slide with it pretty easily. If the car was 90k, I wouldn't love it so much. At that price range, you start running into stuff like a Panamera which could compete with the X1. But for 45k fully loaded? Forget about it.

THE alignment SPEC WILL BE KNOWN TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY MORE STREET THAN TRACK SET UP WILL POST NUMBERS. AS IT SITS NOW ITS 3 DEG IN ON THE REAR NO PROBLEM THE NEW REAR CAMBER BOLTS WILL FIX IT K-MAC SELLS THE NEW BOLTS THAT PROVIDE TWICE THE ADJUSTMENT LENGTH AND THE NEW TOE BOLTS ARE IN TOE IS PERFECT EVEN SITTING THIS LOW. THE REASON I BOUGHT THE K-MAC PRODUCTS IS THAT YOU CAN CHANGE THE CAMBER IN 10 MIN AS THE CAR SITS FROM STREET TO RACE. JUST LIKE THE COILOVERS. ITS ALL EAZY
