How to check engine oil temperature or coolant temperature?

I couldn't find it on 2015 X1.

Have a 28i? Then no dice. Have a 35i, it's on your dash. Yes, BMW is retarded and doesn't have a temp gauge on 28i cars. You could go aftermarket and install your own gauge.

Since sadly there is no P3 vent gauge for the e84, your best bet likely is getting a ScanGauge, which when connected to the OBDII port, will give you read-outs on most things worthy of note.

If you don't have NAV and still use a Garmin, get the EcoRoute module, which replicates the functionality of the ScanGauge through the Garmin GPS.

For occasional temperature monitoring you can use the hidden menu. For constant I think BMWhat app has that ability.

Any tip as to what type of Wifi OBDII interface works with BMWhat? The one I have sadly doesn't want to link to the at despite the app finding it.

I don't use the app so I can't recommend any. I heard that some $10 ones work. I'm thinking you habe a driver problem (on the phone side). Did you try with different app?

Supposedly the bluetooth ELM327 v1.5 Mini works (search ebay) <$10. I ordered one a few days ago so hopefully can verify in a few days.
