New Wheels - 20 mm spacers all round possible
Hey guys, just installed my new wheels and tires. Went from style 355M with:
18x8 ET 30: 225/45/18 18x9 ET 41: 225/45/18 To: 19x8.5 ET 15: 225/40/19 19x8.5 ET 15: 255/35/19 This is pretty equal to going with stock wheels and getting 20mm spacers, for those of you who are curious how it would work. Some pics

Help me understand... Did you use spacers, or not, with your new combo? What is the backspace on the 9.5" wheels? I'm thinking of going with a square combo of 19x9.5, with 245-40/19 Michelin PSS.

I really like the 355 8x18 and 9x18 wheels on my M Sport. I'm not changing stuff that good just to be different.
The 19's on M sport look good, too, but I'm going to lower profile 225/40r18 and 255/35r18 Michelin PSS for more grip and lighter. |

Try the tire calculator in the wheel and tire forum over at e90post. It is immensely helpful in determining clearance and tire diameter.

I just went and checked and the clearance is good =) The inner silver ring is quite confusing from the pictures, it is indented slightly, but does not extend all the way back, so it does not interfere with the calipers. I couldn't tell that the silver strip was indented from the tire rack pictures unfortunately. I had to see for myself in person haha.

Are you worried about the tire diameter being off? That would lead to different speedo and odo readings.

[QUOTE=JackFu;16452988]...That and I would slap some 10mm spacers up front and 15's out back and would have called it a day there...[QUOTE]
Why want to make the rear track even wider than it is right now? I need to make the front wider than currently is because I'm experiencing stability issues (body roll or whatever is called). Right now I'm debating between 18f/15r or 15f/12r on staggered 18"s M 355. |

I like having a wider rear track because that was what I was used to on my E92. It looked better imo and didn't negatively impact the handling characteristics from what I could tell.

Lowering the CG will also help. I want to eventually lower my X1, and at the same time improve handling, possibly by upgrading suspension parts. I'd like to be able to throw it around like a 700lb heavier GTI.
