Front PDC sensor replacement
I need to replace just one of the two PDC sensors situated either side of the front number plate on my X1 E84 M Sport. Can anyone tell me please, does this procedure require a full bumper removal including the snapping of the non reusable plastic wheel arch rivets, or can that particular sensor be accessed via another easier route?
Many thanks in advance Oscar |

I just checked underneath mine while replacing the foglights
And you might be able to get to it by removing the middle part or the driverside under tray, but the space is tight(crashbar sits right infront of the sensors). Picture taken from Driverside. Yellow, green and brown wires that you see Might be easier to just pull the front bumper...

All done. I confirm that it is possible to access all four of the front PDC sensors by removing the under trays.
5 x 10mm bolts under the bumper. 12 x 8mm bolts for the plastic under tray. 4 x 16mm bolts for the metal under tray. Looks like something had hit the back of the sensor as part of it had sheered off revealing some of the wires. |

Sorry but I have only just seen this question. Probably overtaken by events now but I got the sensor secondhand from eBay for about £20. It was painted, but regrettably the wrong colour! I will get around to repainting it at sometime.

Update, for anyone else searching: I only had to remove the once piece - the black plastic "underbonnet shield",the 12x8mm bolts, to easily get access to all 4 front parking sensors. 2013 X1 E84 3.51 MSport. Got the new parking sensor approx $40 off a car parts site, wrong color, but a dash of the touch-up paint that came with the car, and it looks and works perfect. Suggestion: paint parking sensor prior to install, two coats, drying in e.g a clamp in the horizontal position, so the paint "sits flat" as it dries, near indistinguishable from factory. |
