MHD flash

I was wondering if anybody has done the flash. I know it's available for the e84 n55 platform. I was planning on getting rid of the jb4 to get the MHD flash instead. Thoughts?

I run one on an N54. I like it well enough. For the most part, it's OEM smooth, but at least in the N54 case, is down on power from the JB4 (more consistent though).

I'll probably try it on the X1 soon enough, have to send the ECU in to be benched flashed first though, which is a bummer.

Oh ok, I thought they can do a remote unlock of the DME. If I have to send in my DME to get it unlocked I ll wait and do some more research. Right I m on map 1 with the jb4. Would like to do catted downpipe and maybe meth.

I have had my ecu unlocked and running the MHD, Jb4 Back End Flash since early September. Justin at Twisted Tuning(NY) unlocked my ecu after I removed and sent it to him through FedEx.
I haven't tried any of the other MHD maps as I have been happy with the Jb4 backend flash and Jb4 used for boost control and on the fly changes and the awesome gauge and logging feature when using the app and bluetooth kit.

The entire manifold needs to be removed in order to access the ecu and remove for the ecu for shipping or coding. Justin turns it back quickly and it helps if you have all the shipping labels and things sorted out to ensure it comes back right away to reduce downtime.

So probably a week or two of downtime for the unlock. How do you like it?

The downtime can be 2 to 3 days... Pull it out and Overnight it to Twisted Tuning, he can unlock and send back that next day...he is much cheaper for the unlocks than I have seen anywhere else, so the shipping costs and car rental if needed aren't a big deal. Wedge is another option if you are on the West coast.
The burble options are cool and sound great on my fully straight exhaust with no cats and one small muffler. Combine with XHP trans flash and the rev matching on downshifts is pretty aggressive and shift points are great compared to stock or Alpina.
I may try some flash only flashes over the winter to compare vs Jb4 boost control and BEF, but all plans in the Spring will be to use Jb4 again to help control port injection.

I will be flashing the X1 this spring. MHD feels so much better to drive than the JB4. Methanol control for the JB4 though is superior to any solutions I have found so far.

I haven't heard about Justin / TT in years, if he's the same person I'm thinking of he was on the Mazda 6 boards (6crew.net) with me (or I with him depending on POV). Always seemed like a great guy!

I guess ignorance is bliss because I really like the JB4. To me, it feels just like stock driving around town and when I get on it, it really scoots! MHD probably would be a no-brainer if the DME were unlocked from the factory but it isn't.

That's how I feel and there isn't anyone close for me to unlock it in a timely fashion.
