Bumper cover (protector)

I am looking for a rear bumper cover/protector to protect the paint when I am loading/unloading things in the hatch. We have one on my wife's Subaru and it is great. BMW Does not make one right now, has anyone seen something aftermarket? I found a chrome cover from China on eBay but I really don't want chrome.

And I am not talking about the kind that unrolls from the hatch when you open it but one that is affixed to the bumper.

BMW.ca lists a clear bootsill protector for the X1. I think that's what you're after. Either way, call your dealer. They'll definately be able to tell you. Also, the show a carpeted mat that you pull out before loading, not very practical, but more protection.

I installed 3M film on mine just like the full front fenders and hood. Will that suffice, or you are moving heavy staff that can cut it?

I called my local dealer yesterday and they don't have anything but recommended the 3m film too. It would work but I would prefer a hard plastic cover. If the one from China wasn't chrome, i would get it. I guess I will have to go with film for now and hope a better option becomes available.

You can also look around for a local "clear bra" or "paint protection" film installer. Usually the tint places will do it or know of the local ones who do. They can custom fit a piece as big or small as you like.

They're made in Europe, but they'll be available from NGP Racing soon for North America.

http://www.ngpracing.com/home/

I have a version on our Q5. Very durable ABS, and thin enough to clear the liftgate. NGP promised to notify me when they've arrive and have been test-fitted. You can direct any questions to Nathan Brown at nate@ngpracing.com.

That is exactly what I want! Thanks for posting it. For the price of 44euro, I may buy one and have them ship it if NGP doesn't haven them soon enough. Or I will try to get one when I am in Italy at the end of this month.

You should definitely check in Italy as they will certainly be more expensive here. I paid $110 for our Q5 guard plus shipping.

NGP attempted a test fitting with the 2012 rearguard, and apparently it didn't fit on the 2013 model X1. They are working with the manufacturer to get it corrected. A group buy is a possibility once the new guard is available. Stay tuned.

Where have you seen them for 44 Euro or are you mistaking the pound currency symbol for Euro (the link above shows 44 British Pounds (a little more than 44 Euro))?

You are correct, that is a pound symbol. I looked at it on my phone and apparently didn't look close enough. I will still try to source one when I am in Italy if for no other reason than to get it earlier.

Does anyone know of a clear bumper cover for the rear bumper? I'mloo king for something that is already cut to size and wraps down over the bumper slightly, from the flat part by the hatch opening. I'velooked every where, but haven'tseen that type for our vehicles.

Thanks

Sean

Call these guys and ask-em for a quote. They can take the film and do a custom cut however you like.

Hm, there are few options available directly from BMW. At least in Europe.

Does any one know if we can get the bumper protector from rearguards in the U.S. yet?
