I don't see the X1 as a gender specific car at all. But, I like hatchbacks and small suvs/savs.

Lol. Some guy friends of mine try to kid me that it's a chick car.
Like a Porsche is a chick car.

Truth is my X1 Dinan is faster here at mile high than my Jeep SRT8 was!
The fact that everyone is so smitten with the 3 series (for good reason, its a great car) saves X1 buyers about $7000 for the same power and only a fraction of lost speed. It gives more ground clearance for snow and more utility (cargo) for day to day use. PLUS (at least in my book) it is a total sleeper car!
No one thinks its only 180 pounds heavier than a sedan or runs a low 5 0-60!

As far as it being a chick car?? My girlfriend drives a Hayabusa, like I do, so who knows lol...

I live in Charlotte and I've yet to see a female driving as X1. I bought the car b/c it fits my life. It's got a hatch, I can fit my road bike in the back w/o removing the front wheel, it has solid power, gets acceptable gas mileage and with the M Sport package/LeMans Blue I think it looks great and is an excellent package at a reasonable price point.

I don't think you need a male 'tool' to appreciate it, but I don't see how it's aimed at females. Also, I've seen plenty of them in Europe while on business and only about 10% were female driven from what I saw.

The x1 doesn't look gender specific at all.

The only cars that I think are gender specific are the brand tie in cars that we see occasionally, like the Mary Kay pink Cadillac, or that John Varvatos 300C

I'm a man, but I heard that X1 is designed for women and a lot of women like it. Are there really much more female driver on X1 rather than male driver?
Many believes its a women's car because of the rather small look and not as robust as X3s or X5s. In the end its all about personal preference really.. I ordered mine with Sport package so it doesn't look so plain and all

My roommate (girl) thought that the X1 looked like a chick car from pictures I showed her in the brochure, after seeing it in person she changed her mind.

Guess all SUV/SAVs are women's cars.
Also, aren't Courtney Force and Danica Patrick women? Women that are faster, better drivers than you? (And yes, faster than me)

...Unless you are implying that utility and AWD don't matter, in which case I would like to see how the M3 holds up against my Hayabusa

Love open rants. Good stuff.

I think this issue has already been settled.
1. It was recently reported that a couple of studies provided statistical evidence that BMW drivers are complete jerks (see url below).
2. The vast majority of jerks are male.

Ergo, BMWs are male vehicles.
