Bimmian Z8 Style Shifter

Has anyone tried installing one of the illuminated Bimmian shifter handles in an X1-35 (see link)? I'm not sure I really like it or the dummy buttons but was just curious. It doesn't look that difficult.

Try it out and let us know...
My concern would be that it is plastic and whether it will hold up in the long haul...

Looks nice

Eh...I wouldn't do it. I think having the PRND on the shifter and at the base looks silly. Clearly looks aftermarket.

to me, it doesn't look "aftermarket" as it is the same style of shifter for the car...FWIW, When I grip the shifter, I can not see the lettering on the shifter knob anyway, so that is rather useless, I would prefer the PRND M/S on the base, especially when I forget push forward to upshift, or is it down shift?

I like stuff that lights up and blinks. Give me a pinball machine, jet fighter cockpit, or perhaps a shifter that lights up and I'm a happy camper!

Imagine the reaction of the service tech when you take it in and he keeps trying to hit the fake buttons and nothing happens..

Garage List
I'd prefer they put manual transmissions in the X1. And whomever makes these cheesy aftermarket knobs quietly dies in a fire. Hideous.
