Damn!!! I was thinking the same about Stratos looking......

I just hope they constructed for a V6, for the eco's and room enough for the Gt500/Gt350 V8

Everyone wins

That sound is godly, makes the S55 sound like major ass IMO. I know different engine layouts etc...

What a beast.

They should have done a large displacement TT V8. For the price it will go for, it deserves a V8.

What Ford is doing is very smart. Basically they are taking the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost from the Daytona Prototypes and putting it in a street legal car. Then going to use that car as base for a GTLM car, to attack sports car racing.

So recap they figured out how run a race winning Prototype class engine in a GT class car. 3.5L engine already meets regulations for both Tudor and WEC.

Rear def overhangs too much. Too much "junk in the trunk"

please don't compare this car to the m3/m4 it is not in the same league or price point.

I actually like the NSX better in terms of looks, even though the japanese samurai theme is getting really old. (i.e. infiniti/lexus/acura - all their cars)

In terms of performance, who knows- but I think the nsx will dominate with a hybrid motor (the future- see 918), torque vectoring sh-awd, etc.

I wonder if we are approaching the limits of rwd cars...

gt looks great from all sides except the back, looks weird to me- but can't afford it anyway, so my opinion means nothing.

I'm in love. I'm a big fan of small displacement boosted engines, so I'm glad Ford was brave enough to drop one in. Reminds me of the XJ220, people were displeased it got a V6 instead of a V12. But it still ended up being epically fast. Though I'm sure Ford, unlike Jaguar, planned for a V6 instead of compromising.

Hey! Where's the discussion about how this car will fail because it's a TT6 instead of a "proper" V8?

With a car like this, you'd have to "place your order" now or at least put in a deposit. Once Ford allows orders, then you'll be in the que.
Most other exotic manufacturers do it too. First come, firt served.

+1
They want to win LeMans again on the 50th anniversary. We're going to see more and more V6 applications for exotics as they're going to be testbeds for other vehicles and technology share.

Love the new GT but was really hoping Ford would show the new Focus RS. I guess they will bring it to Geneva in March.

That car is a legend in Europe, too bad they never brought it over here. Glad they finally are. It will be wonderful.

I'm not sure if you are the one with the deposit or not. If so, Good luck. I almost cried at my desk yesterday when I saw that car. I've loved the 2005 GT since the second I saw it and this one looks the same, but better. So proud of Ford for making this thing. Credit to the domestic manufacturers, they are kicking ass.

I know, for example, the NSX isn't officially accepting orders, but there is an official queue ever since superbowl 2014 at my Acura dealer. So I am assuming people mean "getting a spot in queue" rather than literal placing orders.

Look at the history of the Ford GT / GT40 and you'll see why.

The GT500 has the S/C 5.8l pushing 662 HP, so they could have used and easily made 700+ HP with it.

This is one of the best automotive designs of the last decade in my opinion. Truly beautiful. I'm sure it will be an all-around monster.

Tip of the hat to Ford

The Trinity V8 is a very heavy engine(~650lbs) with large dimensions. Ford is probably able to be much more dramatic with bodywork due to the V6's smaller size and also save weight in the process.

The 5.8 is still a Mod motor in the end run and I seriously doubt Ford wanted to use it on their most technologically advanced vehicle. You never know, a turbo Coyote or Voodoo might find its way into the GT eventually. A race proven TT V6 should do well enough however especially with 600-650hp.

Even if they thrown in turbo or S/C 5.0 V8, that would have done well. Those engines seem to hold up well. And seeing how they used a 5.4l S/C V8 in the last Ford GT, its just weird to see this engine. We see the new GT350/350R with a flat plane V8, rumors of the GT500 have a TT V8 and hey guys! TT V6 for our "supercar"!

The last Ford GT and its moular motor has done well. It's pushing over 1000 rwhp easily and doing very good. But again, if Ford wants to go this route then thats their call. Just because something is "race proven" doesn't mean much, well a little but not a lot.

What wrong with a modular motor? Koenigsegg has been using it forever and look at what those engines deal with.

The presentation in the Joe was awesome. Also Bill Ford and Mark Fields highfived over it before announcing the release date. I got a solid shot of that!

The car looks awesome, its built like a Le Mans prototype with air channeled everywhere. The rear wheels are only structurally held to the body by the floor pan. Those buttresses and the rear wing are very very thin and really only exist for flow control.

Do you guys want to know anything else? I was at NAIAS with The Smoking Tire
