Floormats

Are floor mats included in the price of a new 3-series? Do people actually get banged out for them? How much? Should I be concerned if the dealer is telling me they're $100?

they don't usually come standard but you could ask them to throw one in for you, and it's a matter of if they'll be asses or not.

sounds like the dealer wants to be a cock *** about floormats and charge you. i would ask him if it is worth losing a sale over.

dealer told about a delivery fee, i laughed and said no problem, i will meet you on that request, but as a customer i also charge a pickup fee and told him the same price he just told me, will you meet me on my request......? he ended up dropping the issue

i like getting the paperwork and just pulling out a pen and drawing lines thru numbers i don't like or crossing out parts of the contract. i think it makes them mad.

Me too. This is what I was gonna say. Mine were free with the car. Got a choice of color too?

Snow how is your car holding up after that accident?

Please, just tell the dealer to throw in all weather mats too. No way they are going to loose a sale over floor mats.

To answer the OP's question, no they are not standard.

I think they are about $100-$130 to buy them aftermarket.

Some dealers throw them in, some don't. It depends on your dealer and how good a deal you got.

I'm on my second E90. I got them with the first one but not with the second. Knowing this, I kept the ones from the first car since my interior was the same color.

I've only purchased 1 BMW so far, however it and the other 2 VWs I've purchased all came with mats standard. I even asked one of the VW sale people if it came with mats and they laughed and said of course.

No, even the carpet mats aren't standard anymore. Like the others said, it's one more negotiating point. Sigh. Most dealers wrestle over every dime anymore. When I bought my 335i sedan, the pre-purchase inspection found a nail in one of the tires. First, the guy wanted to claim it must have gotten the nail on the 3/4 mile roundtrip to the inspecting shop, because it most certainly didn't have it before...then, he even tried to negotiate away part of the replacement price, "because that's not a new tire, and we'd be replacing it with a brand new one"...!!!

This was a "two-walkout" deal, after all was said and done. The second walk-out was when they tried to tack on some of those garbage fees after OK'ing the price. That just was NOT going to happen.

The salesman came running after us into the lot and said, OK, let's talk some more. All the garbage went away at that point.

Yes, we got mats, BTW.

I used the Edmunds.com TMV pricing and I have to say..

..I was able to negotiate a great deal on my 330xi. I contacted 3 dealers and got progressively better pricing and they all admitted the TMV price was pretty accurate.

Just click on the TMV and then pick your car, with options. It shows the MSRP and the invoice price of each one, so you can really get down to brass tacks. By the way, floor mats are not listed as an option.

With the economy in the tank, you are in the driver's seat (pun intended) when negotiating, but this free report will really help you. And no, I'm not a shill for Edmunds, just a consumer who found it a great help.

This isn't recent. They haven't been standard since 2006.

I don't think they were standard on the 3-series, I'm fairly sure they weren't standard on the 2002.

Nickeling-and-diming customers to death is a longstanding BMW tradition, going back to the E3, E9 and 2002, and before. Carpeting was standard, but I don't see floor mats (or a radio) listed as standard equipment on the E9.

I think it depends on the dealership. I remember looking around at the lot where I serviced my Nissan, and EVERY car on the lot had some BS package that included wheel arch moldings (how tacky), pinstriping, etc. They had done the same BS to a new 350Z when they first came out, to the tune of $2500 over list plus another charge of $1000 (I guess they were hot at first).

I actually forgot to ask my dealership about them and figured I'd be burned, but she said, "You get a choice of winter or carpeted no charge." Since they were not in stock, they filled out a slip saying "We Owe" and I took it to the parts counter at a later date.

NO WAY SHOULD ANYONE PAY ANYTHING FOR FLOOR MATS. They are cheesy junk anyway, mine are still in the box in the basement.

My sales guy wants $143 for carpeted mats (negotiated car price is $3500 under msrp for a 2011 335i). I decided not to quibble because the overall price appeared good from all the research I did.
