X1 questions?

I am at X1 training right now, if anyone has a specific question - please post it or text it to 4153356535.
I will have access to trainers and a sample car until noon.

If you were to purchase an X1 28i or an X3 28i similarly equipped which would you chose and why?
Do you know if/when we'll see the diesel engine in this car as was much rumored?

How is the visibility in the X1, especially the rear and side windows?

I've driven the 328 and the X3. Is the driving experience more similar to the new X3 or 328? I find the height too tall in the X3. How is the steering feel and how is the handling?

Thank you.

No plans for Diesel for US, unfortunately.

Between X3 and X1 - to me it would be coin toss between more room or smaller car. Living in SF - cars that don't fit in garages and parking spots are a big problem.

Can you compare the driving experience (such as, handling and performance) between 35i and 28i? I like N55 engine, but the 6 speed auto transmission is dated technology. Based on the final drive ratio (published on www.bmwusa.com), I roughly caculated that to maintain 75m/h highway speed, 28i engine just needs to keep 2100 rpm, while 35i has to run around 2500 rpm (which is not optimized in both gas comsumption and engine noise). In both local and highway driving, does 35i perform much better thn 28i? I just want to see if 35i is worth of the extra $3000.

Also noticed in the online configurator that a sports leather steering wheel is standard. Thats great because the feeling of the thicker wheel is a clear cut above the standard wheel.

@BMWDAD- No you need to order the bike rack fit on the online order guide, basically a couple of screw in holes in rear bumber (fender) and hidden electricity power socket under the bumper, then you purchase the bike carrier..

Yes.

Don't know which one you're meaning, but there's one available without using a tow hitch

Wow, early Sept before a customer can see it in the dealer? I would think some dealers may get a model or two before then, just to check out in the showroom. But maybe I'm wrong.

That would be nice; I was just stating that production dates might run into August which would delay getting cars at the dealers a bit more.

I haven't had a chance to drive either one, but my feeling is that driving experience will be very similar to the X3 variants. Drive both X3's and you should get closer to making a decision.

I think that the X1 drives like a car. It has the same wheelbase as the old 3 series and is not that tall. The new X3 looks huge in comparison.

Agree. X1 drives and handles like a sedan. However, view is not ideal as I feel the seats are low but if you are tall, then shouldnt be a problem. I would choose between a X1 and X5 because the X3 is neither here nor there.

You are probably correct, but the question was about 28i vs.35i, and a parallel comparison between X3 28i and X3 35i will help.
