Rear Parcel Shelf Question

Hi everyone

The mrs went to Ikea and she took out the parcel shelf and on her return home I discovered she had left the small shelf bit behind in the car park! Women!

I rang BMW who advised the smaller shelf cannot be ordered on it's own and comes with the big parcel shelf. Is this true?

Do any of you know where I can get just the little shelf part from?

Many thanks in advance.

Aside from nicking someone else's, you'll need the whole part, as it is indeed listed as a single unit.

Years ago, I was in the parts department getting small parts when a guy came in looking for the plastic trim that went around the nav screen of his X5. He wasn't happy when they told him that the trim was attached to the screen and it would be $3k to replace it.

The part number for black is 51 46 2 991 847 and for tan, it's 51 46 2 991 848 and they run about $115 USD, which works out to what, three pounds?

There might be people who never use theirs that are willing to give it to you.
Anyone in the UK reading this?

Alternatively, check with a scrap yard. A totalled X1 might have a surviving tray you might get for a quid or two.

The first thing I did when I bought my X1 was take the entire thing out, same with the Clubmn we has and X3's. they just get in the way for basically anything you need to carry and especually a baby stroller.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will send the mrs out round the scrap yards seeing as she lost it!

I'm trading it in for a new one in a couple of weeks so need to get hold of one pretty soon. Don't think the dealer will be too impressed if it's missing.

If you're going to trade it in for another BMW, I wouldn't sweat it if the rest of the car looks good. Chips and dents will definitely cost you more points. The dealer can find a replacement boot cover pretty easily at their dealer's cost without any penalty to you. Since you're getting a car from them, they'll be more than happy to let that go.
