N20 Vanos Oil Control Valve

I had an issue with my exhaust vansos solenoid throwing a code so I bought both the solenoids and oil control valves to replace both the intake and exhaust. I wasn't aware that the control valves couldn't be removed from the outside. When I tried to remove the intake oil control valve using the 24mm hex on the end of the valve, it made some odd noises. I think the cam turned and now it will barely run. It is Throwing a code for intake cam out Did I just grenade the motor or can I get the cam back into its correct position?
