ALSO NOTE: The hump profile of these wheels is not acceptable for runflats! Even if you have runflats, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE ON THEM VERY LONG. I purchased non-runflat and got a BMW mobility kit from the dealer (just like I have with my 2011 M3 (M cars never have runflats).
Holy cow.... 2 crack??
How bad were they?
I've put deposit already.... should I cancel the order?

The ones I bought were made in Germany - the dealer has sold them for three years and has had no problem with them (he also sells the same brand of replica wheels for Mercedes and Audi, but a slightly different style of course). So if I were you, I would find out if they were made in Germany or China and decide accordingly.

unfortunately, they should be made from china...
Since they are from macpek.

That's pretty crazy... but I bet if the crack is not due to pothole but rather a manufacturing defect, I guess I can go back and ask for $$ no?

I didn't try to get credit

It happened over the course of a season an it was small cracks.

Repair cost of 100$ was not worth it for a new mag under 125$

I'm surprised no one commented about the fact the Macpek one should not be used with Runflats.

Look for an EH2 hump profile if you indeed to use Runflats.

ya... I'm buying them for use on the non-run flat micheline x-ice2.
I'll make sure when they sell them to me, it will be flawless.

But i think the similar ones made in germany would probably cost double.....

Here we go.
As promise, here's my setup, Micheline X-ice2, 225/50R17.
M3 Replica 17x8, 35mm offset, 72.6cb.

It's forecasting 7cm of snow/ sleet tomorrow, so i'll bring my baby out for a test of the new tires.

Tried it yesterday, the tire is so smooth!!
And I found the ride is much better with these tire!
The acceleration too is much smoother than the OE runflat.
The original centercap fit perfectly onto these wheels, the lug bolt also fit perfectly.
I've put some armor all wheel protector on the outside....(before running out).
Hope this will keep the salt away this winter on the alloy

I actually got the dealer to swap the 18" wheels on my car for some 17's on another car when I bought it, he thought I was mad, but in the UK the 17" wheels come with proper tyres and not run flats.
Best riding BMW I have had since 2003.

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm going to be in the market for winter wheels in a few weeks and I'm looking at all options. I really like these 18" replicas. I read through this thread twice, and I'm still unclear if Phil777's wheels were made in Germany as originally claimed, or in China by Macpek. Can anybody confirm? I strongly prefer to avoid wheels made in China, but I will consider them if manufactured by a reputable brand.

Of course I will be looking at Tire Rack once they get the correct fitment information, but I'm less than thrilled with their wheel selection. I would also consider OEM takeoff wheels if any forum members are looking to unload their stock 17" or 18" wheels. I like VMR's, but they're probably too wide for a practical winter setup. I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions on alternate wheel options available here in the US, so I encourage any and all opinions. Thanks in advance.

OK, so after extensive research I finally have some answers on these wheels. I contacted Phil777, the thread starter, who put me in touch with his Canadian tire dealer. Phil was correct - the wheels are not Macpek, but Euro Klasse wheels from YKW Motorports. Euro Klasse wheels are quality replicas, not cheap knock-offs. They are not made in China but Thailand, although word has it some are stamped with "Made in Germany". Maybe they moved their manufacturing?

There is no US distributor for YKW, and I can't find a Canadian dealer willing to ship to the US. Since I can't find a dealer, I was able to convince YKW to sell and ship direct to me . But they are out of stock on the silver painted wheels and only have the machined face version . As some of you know, clearcoated machined wheels are not terribly durable - particularly where salt is involved. I planned to wait for the silver finish, but they couldn't tell me when, or even if, they would be available again. Maybe it's for the best, as it forced me to buy a 17" package from Tire Rack which is far more practical, even if they don't look as good.

Did you have an opportunity to drive your X1 in snow with the original tires? What were they and how'd they perform?

Thanks!

Hi Bmwlvr60 - no I did not drive the summer wheels and tires in the snow - I bought the set of snow tires and winter wheels before the first snowfall. Through the warmer months, I have 18" summer wheels (style 322) and run-flat tires (these came as an upgrade I ordered when I bought the vehicle - nothing custom - just what BMW offered in 2012) - sorry, I can't remember the tire brand and my wife has the car out right now, so I can't check. I would recommend the road hazard protection though on any tires you get from BMW - I've had two flats on our X1, and two on my 550i GT. Hope this helps.

Man, they look stunning. They are great for summer, what winter. Anyway, they are replica's? Made by whom please? Do they have EH2 hump? And the center cap just fits in? Thanks.
