Deactivating front passenger airbags

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to deactivate the front passenger airbags on a 2012 X1?

My wife recently bought a demo model without the key deactivation option. After reading numerous sources including the Euro NCAP results I was convinced the dealer could deactivate it, but apparently they don't do it anymore...

Now 2 month old baby has to go on back seat which will be a bit distracting as he is not a happy traveller.

Can one do it through OBD with something like NCS? Will that invalidate the motorplan?

Thanking everyone in advance!
