BMW X1 X-DRIVE 2.3d 0-100mph vid

I made this for you and put it on youtube so you can compare acceleration and braking, if it's relevant to you.

Thanks for the video, 23d is a fascinating engine What I realized on my X1 is that it sometimes feels like the car is much more slower than the factory data. 0-100 time for xDrive 20d is 8.6 but when from standstill our Jetta 1.4 TSI 140 HP DSG overtakes the X1 at 50 60 km/h and leads until 130 140 km/h. Manufacturer data for Jetta is 9.3 seconds. Maybe the extra accessories like panorama roof is increasing the kerb weight too much We tried at least 5 times and the result was always the same.

I am thinking of recording a similar video as soon as I have the access to a non-traffic road.

What about your X1? Do you think that it really achieves 7.3 seconds?

are you jumping on the brakes and getting the engine under load to generate exhaust and get the turbo spinning before you launch?

Doesn't the X1 come with "launch control" (in automatic gear box models)?

Thanks for the replies, I have less than 2,000 miles on the car and yes I think it easily achieves the 7.3 secs 0-100 KMH and 0-60 MPH in 7.0 secs going by the cars speedo anyway.

I don't want to strain the car, so I don't left foot hold the brakes.

There is no launch control.

All I did in the video was stop the car engage drive on the auto box move the auto box lever to sport, release the handbrake and put the accelerator to the floor.

Please note the test is on a private aerodrome.

Give it another go with the brake first. There is minimal strain as compared to the loads in first gear when full boost is reached. Just hold at about 1500rpm so the turbo is at least spinning... you will be MUCH quicker. Id say by a half second.
