High Mileage X1 owners, were are thou? Status?

Hello All!

High Mileage X1 owners, people who have 30K miles or more, how is your X1 doing?

Has it had any major problems?

Is everything still good?

Hows the leather holding up? especially Oyster Leather owners

Hows the Electronics?

etc.

The reason why i am asking these questions is just out of curiosity to see how the X1 is once it starts racking up some miles. I am in the process of trying to keep my car until the wheels fall off, but i just wanted to hear from X1 owners who drive alot and see how their X1 is doing. Whether you will keep the car forever, and or, is ready to pull the trigger on their X1, i am just curious to hear from others on how they are doing

I especially want to hear from owners who have exceeded the standard warranty and maintenance period.

This is not limited to just X1 owners with high mileage.

Anyone can post the status of their X1!

Thanks

93000 miles today which is 4 years to the day since I picked her up. 7k on the clock back then. A 2010 model that has now been out of warranty for 13 months.

Issues...

Clutch replaced
Power steering belt replaced
Timing chain replaced twice
A recall for a squeak noise on the start motor
Aircon pipe changed as it was vibrating against something

All the above while under warranty and extended warranty.

The car is still going strong, never failed to start, and got my family around with ease. The engine is a bit noisey now, and the Aircon pipe noise is back, but mechanically it was given the thumbs up after the last service by BMW.

Nevada leather in mine that's gone a bit hard on the front seats. Time for some Poorboys Leather Stuff me thinks.

Occasional odd readings on the computer display (like 99.9mpg once), but apart from that everything is working fine.

It used to do over 500 miles a week, but is now on quieter duties and doing 124.

Still seeing 54mpg too

J.

Approaching 37,000 miles on 2013 X1, purchased November 2012. Trying to slow down on mileage accrual so I can make it to November 2016 with 50,000 miles. At this point, though, it looks like my brakes are holding up so well they may outlast the warranty. Guess I should stomp on them once in a while lol.

In my first six months I had a "low coolant" warning. Since then, problem free.

45,000+ miles on a 2013 x28i. No problems except it somehow drank all the coolant (no leak). Great car. On the fence about keeping it past the warranty or trading it for a new 3-series wagon.

Were you using EcoPro a lot? I was when on freeway when I got the "low coolant" alert. SA wouldn't confirm Ecopro can be at fault, though there's some stuff on this topic in the forum. Anyway, I just needed any excuse to stop using Ecopro, and that was it And no coolant problems since...

No, after the first few weeks of ownership I never used it at all, and the same goes for the A.S.S.. When I checked my coolant reservoir after the alert I noticed it was almost empty - had to top it off.

2013 and only 25000km.

3 times changes the lower steering shaft under warranty, which is now over, and rattles again.
Awaiting for the new model launch to have the modified unit on sale (seems BMW avoids the recall campaign due to 100% defective engeneering of the shaft).

Otherwise perfect car, strong chassis, reliable and heat-independent engine (it is up to +40C here June to September) with 0,5l/10000km oil consumption, smart and smooth gerbox.

Rear brake pads will hold another 5K or so, fronts- up to 10K. Both front and rear rotors are in good condition and will definitely run for 60K, but the rears are starting to cover with rust spots, which looks untidy. Remember the same quality the 1-er originals were. I even think of replacing with Ate as they make the rotors zinc-covered for Mercedes, so hopefully the BMW ones as well.
