N20 Going catless

I plan on replacing the downpipe due to a flex pipe leak with a catless one. Anyone have any luck with O2 spacers to avoid check engine light? Or is a tune the only way to go?

If there is no easy remedy for the check engine light I might consider replacing just the flex.

You can also check with the F30 crowd since their 328i share the same n20 with our X1.

You do know that your X1 will smell right?

I have searched in F30 section, but came up empty handed.

I ran my A4 catless and to be honest never even noticed it smelled more/different.

Can't comment on the A4. Apparently our N20 is tuned a bit rich. Hence the recent recall to lean out the mixture a bit to prevent cat failure.
I know the car smell of unburnt fuel during cold startup. YMMV.
