Pics of first washing

Gave the X1 his first washing... Anyone have some grease residue coming out of the housing on the rear windshield wiper? A little disappointed but some pics any ways... He looks great all nice and clean.

And away for the night...

Haven't seen any grease on mine. Sweet-looking ride, though. Like the way you spec'd yours - a little bit of chrome-line bling below the tinted windows - nice.

Yes I had grease around the base of the rear wipers after a wash too, although it was done by the dealer so I didn't think much of it, just cleaned and goo-goned the yuck. I dont recall seeing the grease after heavy rains though. What do you think this is all about?

I just got rid of an Orange Camaro SS... wanted a little more subdue look for a while.
My house is part brick and part Splitfaced stone... we fell in love with the look of the house. It was the first one we looked at and no other compared.

I'd guess it's cosmoline, used for shipping. Try a little degreaser, liberally applied to the area.

Should we expect the residue to disappear permanently after a couple more washes then? I didn't have this issue on the rear wiper when I had my X5, which was bought new as well.

I had similar issues with the mirrors and lower door sills on our previous 135i. A few heavy treatments with P21s APC and it cleared up. I haven't noticed nearly as much on the X1, the rear wiper being one of the few spots that seems to weep. If you look in the edges of the hood channels, I bet you'll see some there too. It's just a thick grease they spray on and wash off at port upon arrival. Some cars they seem to get really clean, some they clearly don't.
