Heater Squeal When Braking
When I am braking with my heater on, I hear a squeal coming from my vents. It only seems to happen when the heater fan is set on low (1/5 or 2/5).
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks! |

Yeah likely blower motor / blower motor resistor if it happens at only a few fan speeds
I'd wait until you lose a fan speed altogether to replace anything unless it really bothers you that much. You'll notice it gets progressively louder when its colder out, but will (likely) be just fine when its warm outside |

I've had the same issue for 3 years. It doesn't matter if its cold or hot out. Mine will just make noise intermittently..even under warranty the dealer said no problems found.... YAY german cars.
Might want to check out the cabin filter area and vacuum all the leaves/debris out. I did this once and it helped a lot. |

Yup, mines been doing this since ~38k miles. Only during Fall/Winter though. The fans go bad, I don't see any reason to replace the resistor due to this squeal.
My friend's Audi does the same thing, seems like a big German car problem. (Behr/Bosch blowers?) |
