look at the 2015 KIA Sorento's too you can get the Limited AWD all the options for 40k, 7 passenger and plenty peppy 290hp GDI. Power fold in mirrors, lift gate, huge panorama roof etc...

8 weeks wait

Great choice, please give us a full review when you get the car. I'm in the market for a 7 seater suv too and I would like sth to compare with my so far favorite pathfinder hybrid.

Car is quiet and smooth. Rides comfortable but you do hear some mirror wind noise...doesnt bother me (my m235i is worst). Most real world mpg test gets mid 20s, some got 30s. It runs on 3 batteries (2 front and 1 running the rear). Its got good power (280hp 0-60 7.2) so you dont feel like driving a minivan. Car is fwd bias but can put 50% to the rear if detected. Some body roll (wait I mean alot of bodyroll ) as the car weights over 4500 lbs. The eletric steering is direct but very soft...hey its not like Im taking this to the track ahahaha Exterior is very americanized as this will be a big seller in the US. Front is like a tundra, side profile and rear is dodge like. Not the best looking suv but not ugly either. We went with black on black. Interior is a toned down lexus. I really like the new toyota interior, all soft touch materials. Nothing exciting but its got a mature look...very easy to use. Love the ventilated/heated seats. Thin leather but not cheap. Love the 2nd row captain chairs. We can have passengers pass thru the captain chairs instead of removing the childseats and roll up the seat (this was a big selling point). 3rd roll is tight but anyone under 5'8 shouldnt have problem sitting back there and the space between the captain chairs allow some leg stretch for the 3rd roll passengers. With the 3rd seats up, not much trunk space but can fit a normal size stroller. Other 7 passenger cars is about the same (the ones i listed oringinally). Toyota has 2 year free maintenance. The hybrid limited has alot of bells n whistles. The highlanders are built in america started last year (use to be in japan). This is all I have for now and if you do decided on the pathfinder, just be aware of the CVT issue

Thanks for the heads up on the CVT for the Pathfinder. Been reading up on this issue on pathfindertalk.com. Seems like they will be implementing a recall for a new CVT transmission. The problem seems to be a hydraulic line pressure issue that is causing the judder. I'm guessing that's why the MY15 is being pushed to a later date and I don't think the 15 will have this problem anymore or else it will become much more expensive for Nissan to fix in the future.
I won't be getting the car till early 2015 anyways so I'll see how that goes. The CVT on my 09 Murano has worked perfectly for 100k kms now. I love the car and aside from 3 fuel pump replacements, the car has performed quite nicely for the last 5 years.

Got a highlander last year in february, definitely very reliable, and pretty fun to drive
MPG could be better but not bad, but since I've had it been having a great time driving it, and had no problem using it as a truck my borther got a new 5 seater 4runner around the same time, which is pretty fun to drive aswell, but drives very heavy, compared to the highlander which rides really light |

I have had a number of 7 passenger SUV's over the years.
Yes it may be more expensive and less reliable but only one (in your price range) drives like a car - the BMW X5.

we own em-dee-ex (made by Akura). It's good. My wife likes it better than the Porsche Cayenne :-(
7 seater, plenty of space and love the LID front head lights.

Checking out the new Land Rover Discovery Sport that just came out with 7 seater option. Any one have any idea what it will cost in Canada?
Looks like a good contender.

Land Rover Discovery fits 7 people? I can't see that working out well.
We owned 3 MDXs. 05 (new), 07 (CPO), 13 (new). The first two were fantastic vehicles. The 13 sucked. Rattles, vibrations, seat leather quality. Got rid of it. The Tahoe or Yukon with the 5.3 would be a great choice. That motor is going 250k miles all day on regular oil changes. Sequoia is also a great choice. We just bought a used 2012 Tundra Platinum and it's a great truck. Same platform. |

I'd have to say, if you want an actual 7 seater that has any sort of room for luggage your looking at a Yukon XL or the like, just rented one for a work trip, over 1000 miles with 5 grown men and their luggage (yes 7 guys and luggage would have fit). Plenty of room and one of the guys camped out in the 3rd row and turned it into his office. 5 suit cases and 3 cases of beer , again plenty of room.
THAT is a 7 seater. These highlander etc 7 seaters are not useable 7 seat vehicles.

I would have to agree with Sniz, if we are talking 'true' 7 seater. My wife has a 2013 Denali XL, captain seats for 2nd row (a must). MPG not good, but if you're in the market for something that big...that can actually tow something, not too many options. When we bought we were looking at the Infinity Q56, not sure what it is called now though.
Just depends on what you need in your 3rd row seating. I prefer actually having a trunk or cargo room behind the 3rd row....that is limited in almost everything else. I am a fan of the GL's though, couldn't talk the wife into it, GL550 is a great looking rig.
