What is 'dealer delivery'?
I was looking at pricing for a new X1... I noticed that Dealer Delivery is $3000. I've never bought a brand new car (and probably wont) so I'd like to know what the heck this is.
Are new car buyers paying $3000 to the dealer just to place the order? |

After a google or two I found:
The Justification: Charges to be passed on to consumers. * Inspect vehicle for damage ex-factory. * Cleaning for inspection for damage. * Recoup inward handling costs. * Recoup floor-plan charges. * Recoup stock insurance charges. * Time to transfer to delivery area. * Preparation of registration papers. * Time to register, fit plates and fill with petrol. * Collection of insurance, finance papers, etc. * Administration charges for arranging finance. * Delivery to customer other than at dealership. * Valuation of trade-in (if applicable). * Cost of number plates, frames, etc. * Preparation and lodgement of transfer papers to transfer trade-in. * Costs of vehicle used for registration and delivery to client. * Cost of dealer plates, including comprehensive insurance. * State taxes. |
