Happy new owner of a MY 2015 midnight blue 20ix

Hello everyone,

Quick presentation of my new X1 20ix. I initially wanted to replace my 135i but I modified it so much and this car fits me so well that I couldn't. So I decided to keep it but to get a new daily car.

I wanted an x-Drive (very cool sytem that the new F48 will not have...) and I initially looked at the 3 and 4 series, but a special offer decided me to go with the X1, much cheaper, really different and still having the x-Drive. Plus I've never had a SUV before, so why not.

The other reason I went for the X1 is that it shares a lot with my E82 that I know quite well. I was curious about modifying the X1 (not to the extend of my 135 though, I won't go on a track with this one).

In terms of package and options, I guess this is quite different from what you have in the US, but basically I went for the following:
- Sport line with 18" staggered 323 wheels
- 8 speed auto gearbox
- Midnight blue
- Communication package (GPS, connected drive, extended phone connectivity, etc...)
- Visibility package (xenon, rain sensor, etc...)
- Comfort package (auto aircon, eco pro, cruise control, etc...)
- front and rear PDC
- Sunroof
- Black leather
- Heating seats
- HIFI system
- aluminium rails and chrome line
- Performance control
- ... maybe I forgot some

Here are some pictures when I took delivery:

Waiting the car to break in now, and after the first oil service, I'll start with some modifications to make it more to my taste.

I'll keep you posted.

This is very similar to the package I have on order, except that mine is Valencia Orange. I went with the same sport line package with leather seats and (I think) most of the tech options you have. I love the look of the red stitching and piping. Can't wait to get mine. It got dropped off at the NYC port today!

Oh, and I love the view where you parked.

Love it! Great view, too. Your interior is much more attractive than my no-line premium package. I like the red accents especially.

Hello everyone,

Quick update. I went for the KW V1 suspensions (amazing, as they have always been on my other cars), and still really comfortable.

I also went for front M3 bushings in both traction strut. See my specific thread for this modification: http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1127816

I wanted to have stiffer subframe bushings without having the hassle to remove and fit new M3 (or Motorsport, or Powerflex) bushings. So I went for the Powerflex black inserts. No need to remove existing bushings, easier. They are supposed to make the stock bushings as stiff as those of the M3, and it is seems to be true (tested on my X1 of course and on an E82 of a friend, and compared with my 135i which has the Motorsport bushings).

Got the X1 dropped by 2" (maybe more now), but looks a bit too low IMO, and moreover, there's no space in rear fenders to put wider rims and tires (we tried). So I might go higher and modify top suspension bushings to avoid wheels rubbing at full load. I just need to decide first what wheels and tires size I want to use.

Some pics now:

Finally, as I wanted better brakes, I went for Pagid RSL1 (new endurance yellow line from Pagid), finding that front M3 E9x pads can fit the X1. Rear are easy to find, same reference on many BMW. For those of you wanting to know, the references for Pagid are:
- 8053 (M3 E9x) for front axle
- 8035 for rear axle (will fit a lot of BMW)

Cheers.

Nice! It was seeing an X1 in the showroom in ZRH in 2010 that convinced me I wanted one...and they weren't sold here then, I had to wait!

It's the "dry and track car" while the X1 is the "wet and icy car" :-)

Update, the X1 with M3 wheels:

Those make a significant difference because they are lighter, wider and with a more aggressive offset.

BTW, when doing the wheels alignment, the car has been weighted:

That makes 3'743Lbs, heavy bunny...

Cheers

Looks great NTTY! What are the offset of those wheels? Those are stock E46 M3 wheels correct?

Hi,

They are stock M3 E9x ;-)
Their specs are 18x8.5 ET29 front and 18x9.5 ET23 rear.
It rubbed in the rear, but the tires made their way. Now it's ok.

I really like those wheels, but I'd like them to be lighter.

Never satisfied :-)
