What's the point of this? Ok this may not be a failure like the R-Class was, but a luxury minivan is pretty funny in my eyes. Good job for Benz here... The soccer moms will be happy.

Luxury minivans are no joke at all.

You obviously have no clue that they sell like hot cakes. It ain't even for soccer moms.

Soccer moms around here roll around in either Honda Pilots or Range Rovers lol. Throw in the occasional GL450, GL550.

It'd be interesting to see a Rolls-Royce minivan. Hand-built. With a V12.

Not a new line up, this is basicly a Mercedes Viano from their Truck Division with some nice interior.

Can't wait for BMW to swoop in with a competitor..

The all new 0.5 series minivan.. of course, since it's a BMW it's going to have a couple hundred variants. Here's a few I could think of:

0.5i - 1L 2cyl quad turbo minivan
0.6i - 2 door Coupe-van (optional x-drive)
0.6iGC - 4 door GranCoupe-van (optional x-drive)
0.5iGT - 5 door (optional x-drive)
0.5i LWB - exclusively for China
0.5i/0.6i/0.6iGC Horse Edition - Also for China

and now the good stuff,

M0.5 - 1L 2cyl quad turbo (but tuned to have more power)
M0.6 and M0.6GC
*NO X-DRIVE for M variants because it is against M-philosophy. Because it's perfectly acceptable to make ///Minivans with turbos but wrong to have AWD.
*M-performance variants will be considered based on success of other models.
*M-sport body kits available with additional charge.

Am I missing anything?

I like R-Class. Too bad it is outdated and not a spacious "S Class". It has a lot of presence and practicality IMO, and looks more dynamic than a SUV. Anyway those SUV are not true 4x4/Off-Roader.

Rolls Royce is to have a SUV with V12 or V16. It should be based on BMW X7, but even larger, the X7 is to be revealed as concept this year.

Looks great until you actually get kids in back and completely destroy the interior.

Yes, you are missing the iVan. CFRP body, recycled bamboo wood interior (from recycled kitchen utensils), 1.21 GW sodium-ion battery pack, and a 4,000 mile range.

I think this has a better chance at success than the R-class did. Unless you need towing or AWD and some clearance a mini-van is a much better option than a 3 row SUV if you have kids. My wife's Odyssey can hold more than any GL, QX, Q7 or whatever as you can pull the seats and easily seats 8.

I wanna see the X7, if it's anything as nice or nicer than the MB GL-Class!

bring back the dead, just chipping in
I am actually quite interested in the Viano, 2 toddlers meaning a $h1T load of stuff to carry around.
Quite a soccer mum type thing but I think it will be quite useful, maybe even more useful than an SUV (kids in mind).
Does feel cozy and comfortable to have though

The previous had an Avantgarde Line, pretty sick looking imo. Not just soccer mum vans, I VIP it if I could lol no jokes.

Van came to mind because of the useable space and how easy it is to access

Kpop stars are all driven in these kinds of vans when they are working so that could be a market. Probably many other VIPs in certain countries may be transferred in these kinds of cars as well... They are really low key, but provide similar level of comfort... we just don't know.
