BMW X1 at RPM this sunday on V tv

Hi everybody. This sunday (november 13th) Pierre Michaud of RPM will have the new BMW X1 (without sport pkg) on his tv show. It is available on V channel at 10:00 am.

I know for sure that Michaud is gona spit on our dear X1 because he hates BMW for a couple of reviews now. I'm just curious to see what in the world he is gona find as a hater to validate his poor opinion of BMW.

3 weeks ago he was trash talking on the X3 saying he was having the impression of driving a "boat" through the cones instead of a BMW. He actually noted that the car was diving under hard braking ( the X1 is not for sure 50 / 50 weight distribution is the key).

He also said ( and it's a shame) that in the new X3 the sport seats were not available !!!! oh pleaaaase ! Without even mentioning it was an option !!! Poor journalism. He is always complaining about the lack of reliability and the complexity of the mecanics.

Last year he also was trash talking about the interior of a Z4 which was fabulous by my standards. He admits on that show that the car was a blast to drive but that he prefers the Boxster. Good for him ... The Boxster is a good car for sure I have no doubt about that. But to say so much stupid stuff about some great cars like those ( X3, Z4) you have to wonder if the guy is ok between his two ears ...

I can't wait to see him trying to trash talk the interior of the X1 he is gona drive ( white color as I saw in the upcoming images, with the premium pkg and the 17" wheels). Hope he is going to have a great run with it but hey it's Pierre Michaud. He will surely found a way to complaint about the wipers

We'll see in a few days ...

I will watch it for sure but I also think he's gonna trash it up. I don't think he's gonna have something bad to say about the engine+turbo+tranny+xdrive package, how can you say bad things about this? Its about the best power/fuel efficiency ratio on the market. Also its a really fuel efficient car with that 8 speed tranny. You have the best of both worlds, power with the turbo and economy on the road. The engine is also one of the most interesting on the market. I think he will trash the seats and the interior design.

The interior, the design, the boot I'm sure he will find a way to compare it with the design of the new "era" of Hyundai's (Elentra, accent, tucson) and says it's lacking the quality of the Koreans (he is an owner of a hyundai concession some people told me recently).

As for me, I'm a BIG fan of the dashboard of My X1. The black trims are superb and it gives a classy finish to the console and the doors.

You have to like germans finish though but how in the world someone can trash talk some of the nicest cars on the planet like this ??? A mystery to me.

X1 for trade ... with a RAV4 or CR-V ;- )

As I predicted, Pierre Michaud, the worst automotive journalist in Canada, has confirmed that the new BMW X1 is nothing short than a Toyota Rav4 or a Honda CR-V.

The X1 is well served by it's engine and the 8 spreed transmission but that's about it. The steering is not well balanced as other BMW products for M. Michaud taste ... The interior is under anything offered by japanese ( oh pleaaaaaaze ).

The seats ( standards ) uncomfortable, and the dashboard ( which I really love on my X1 ) is sad, without any innovation.

Overall, the X1 isn't more pleasant to drive than a Toyota Rav4 (really ???).

He also claimed that "in the category" ( good laugh everybody ...) The CR-V was first class, the Tiguan was second (thank's for his high quality and reliability from Audi pieces) and the X1, last of the bunch.

Is it me or Audi finished dead last again in term of reliability in lasts reports ?

So, I'm glad that I finally know I bought some scrap from BMW, which has no driving pleasure of any sort, a sad interior, no finition quality and overall no handle to close the rear hatch ( I found two on mine but hey I must have mistaken two holes for some kind of handle) Geez .. I have two holes in my hatch !!!!!!! Damn it !!!!!

The guy is a pure BMW hater and a first class idiot for sure. Sorry, I had to say it. I just drive over 400 km of pure joy this weekend with my X1. Loving every minute of it

Mmmm, don't have that channel here but the guy sounds like a numpty (polite UK word for idiot). The Tiguan is very nice but the 2.0tdi I drove simply did not have the power of the BMW. Also it's a lot smaller. Nice enough but the X1 handles better. The CRV is well built but handles like a bus quite frankly. I cannot even begin to think how he could put it in the same league from a drivers perspective. Just my two bits worth but I do have some experience.

I could'nt said it in a better way. How in the world could he put the CR-V in the same class as the X1. For me it's like comparing a 335i coupe and a Hyundai Genesis coupe.

Come on ... This journalist is a clown. When his show started more than 10 years ago it was'nt that bad. Sure he was critical of all models he drove but to this day the last two seasons are pure garbage. He trash talk on some nice products and he applauses generic cars without soul.

Sure BMW has his share of reliability issues but based model like the X1 or the 323i are normally good products as I know from owners I know personnaly. X5 and 5 series are often cited as problematic in the reliability category but again you can't put all version in the same egg basket.

Anyway, He is who he is M. Michaud. A BMW hater and a clown.

Hey, here's the video.

http://auto.vtele.ca/videos/rpm/bmw-...e28i_36765.php

I totally agree with loukas, that Pierre Michaud is very bias for the X1.
First of all, why does he compare an CRV, RAV4 and Subaru with the X1??
The X1 is not even at the same level of these !!
He should be comparing with RDX, Q5, SRX or GLK instead!!
How the hell he could compare a BMW with Honda, toyota and Subaru??
They aren't even the same price range!?!

But one thing I found from this episode is that our X1 has a windshield washer fluid pipe exposed at the front right wheel well. Watch the video towards the end to know what i'm talking about.

Also, the boot handle too....what the heck he is talking about?? no handle? he got to kidding me.... what's the difference between handle of a CRV and ours??

I really really want to see how he will complement the new super duper ugly 2012 CRV...

He also blasphemy totally the interior the X1....
But one thing I agree with him, is the seating position. I found the X1 floor level is fairly high, it's weird to say, but it's not comfortable when you want to stretch your left leg during traffic time.
Sorry for fokes that can't understand french, but it should be fairly understandable.

Thank's ohnoyuji for your comments. You're right for the washer fluid tube which is exposed but we are talking about 2 or 3 inches at all and behind the wheel. Not sure at all it will bring problems at any level but it's good to know that it is vulnerable at this location. It could help diagnose problems with the system during winter time.

For the "interior" I can't disagree more with Michaud. For the seats, I solved it by going for the sports seats with the pkg. Right to say the std seats aren't the bests on the market but during my very first test drive I didn't had any problem with those at all ... It's just when comparing both that I realised I couldn't passed on the sport seats.

Michaud is complaining in almost each and every episode on BMW's lack of reliability. Last year, he and his crew of "morons" were having discussion on the last episode and were all saying that BMW was the "only" manufacturer which cars were "ALWAYS" having a check engine or system alerts on the dash board each time thery were testing a BMW car.

That's insane. I don't know which "request or favor" BMW didn't comply for Pierre Michaud but it is evident, he is making the brand "pay" for a personnal offense he seems to be unable to get over with ... The icing on the cake is Michaud is known for being an owner of a Kia / Hyundai dealership. Talk about impartiality "moron".

I know from some friends close to people in the cars business ( dealers ...) that journalists are always asking for favors of all kind in exchange for good comments on manufacturer cars ... So, the best way to appreciate or not a vehicle will always be to DRIVE it by yourself and appreciate it.

Dealers are waiting for us so don't let journalists dictate which car we should buy or not.

As for me, my X1 is everything I've always dream of a BMW and more :- )))
