Yes I would buy another. Great to drive, in my opinion anyway, and quite the sleeper with in 35i form.
That said, I didn't buy another, but not because I didn't like the X1 in any way. |

I recommend X1 if you prioritize performance and handling over luxury. It drives really well for an SUV and performance is close to a 3 series.
If you are looking for a luxury car in terms of ride comfort, interior quality, cabin noise and roominess I recommend Acura RDX or Volvo XC60 or something similar for the same money as a loaded X1. Also if you are ok with a stripper car again I recommend X1 with minimum options for its performance to price ratio. In terms of options I recommend heated seats or cold weather package, lighting package (which I don't have and regret it every night), technology package, ultimate package in that order. Also if you are patient order the car to get the paddle shifters. |

I've only had mine for a week, but here are my initial impressions. First, let me qualify my comments. I love my E39 M5, but wanted a real BMW that was more economical and utilitarian.
I had the dealer allow me to drive both the M Sport and Sport Line cars back-to-back before I placed my order (I had dismissed the X-line because I wanted the sport seats). I found the M Sport ride a bit harsh and the Sport Line about right. Given that my M5 has a Dinan Stage 1 suspension and my Miata has a Mazda-Sport suspension, I think that says a lot. I am very impressed with the ride and handling as delivered. In a short period of time, I can tell you that I hate EcoPro ... it's beyond awful. Normal drive is not much better since it tries to keep RPMs around 1,000. Sport mode is decent and that is my preferred option ... manual shift is even better. So far I really like the car, but a real exhaust note would really be nice! Maybe a real M version would help ... maybe less focus on the Eco-gods would help even more. It's a very nice car and I like it a lot ... just don't love it like the M5. |

No ... but only because I have never purchased the same car back to back ... I like to have something different. However, after 3 years of ownership and 65.000 kms, I'd rate the X1 as the best car I have ever owned (I'm mid 50's and owned a lot of cars) ... I plan on keeping it for a further 2 years, the longest I've ever kept a car.
Who knows what might be available as a replacement in 2016? This is my first BMW (apart from a brief period of owning an old 1974 520i for a few months). I will certainly consider another. |

I'm with Danintas. I love my 2013 X1, at just over 18 months ownership. But my cars have been Datsun (yeah that's going back a while), Volkswagen, Ford (twice due to trading a problem TBird for a lease on a Contour SST), Infiniti, Lexus and now BMW. So I guess I'd like to own a Benz or Audi somewhere down the line, but who knows...
Do love my X1, though. |

I love my X1. Mine is a 2.8i M-sport custom ordered with every package, blk with red leather. Everyone comments on the red leather and gets lots of compliments after the windows were tinted and bigger wheels/tires installed. In hindsight, should have ordered the 3.5 as there was only a slight price difference but my wife objected to it since this was to be a commuter for me. Coming from an E90, this car is excellent as it gives me added space for home depot/costco runs and allows for spirited driving. Considered Lexus and Acura but this was the most sporty.
I recently had a stripped X1 Sdrive as a loaner and OMG!!! that car was fun. Super quick off the line and drove like a go cart. Made me regret putting big wheels on my car. I do plan on tuning the engine with the JB4 and possibly lowering and exhaust for added fun. Getting bored with a stock car as all my cars are modified. I probably won't buy another again, only because I want to step up to the X5 or try another brand like Porsche or Audi. Don't hesistate on purchasing the X1 as it's a great car. Very fun to drive! |

Only 2500 miles on the ticker... but this is the first car in many years that I look forward to driving! I've owned mostly highly reliable and horribly practical Japanese vehicles for the better part of my adult life. The X1 gives me:
- Sports car behavior when I want a sports car. - Economy car when I'm in my 'let's monitor the MPG' mood (30s highway) - Utility to support my cycling habit (hate putting a 5000 dollar road bike on the roof) - Reliability, hopefully, at least thru the 4/50 time period. - Ride height. My back gives me issues in cars where I sit with legs straight out. The extra few inches solves this. - Great date night car with my wife. - "BMW" look, feel, smell, build, etc. Ask me again when I get the urge to upgrade.... but for now, Yes. It's the only car that fits the bill. The Q3 may be a contender when it hits the US. And I'm not so sure about the new FWD platform coming. I bought BMW because it's a BMW - not a diluted brand. But that's a different thread... A satisfied (for now!) 52 year old car enthusiast, Tom |

I would not. In fact, anybody looking for a well equipped Le Mans Blue M Sport with non-Servo steering? I'm pretty sure one will be hitting the market sometime this summer.

I took delivery on my X1 XDrive 2.8i SportLine last October and I love it! I didn't go for the packages other than leather and cold weather as I plan to own it for a long time and really wanted handling and performance, not gadgets. I paid $99 on eBay for an auto-dim rearview mirror w/Homelink and tinted the windows. I use it to kayak, bike, light transport and general use and it does everything I need in a car. Bonus is the awesome handling and the superior engine/8-speed transmission. I upgraded from a VW Sportwagen TDI and it is far superior! I paid $37K and see no reason to spend a penny more for a luxury automobile option.

I am starting to like the X1 now that the roads have started to get repaired around here. A couple of months ago it was brutal driving with all the potholes and damaged roads.

We've only had the X1 for a couple months but yes, if we had to go back and do it over again we would get the X1.
Now if I could only go back in time and order my 135 with a manual instead of the DCT...

Absolutely! I went from a Rav4 V6, and this is way more fun to drive. Smaller yes, but better mileage, 33 on trips. The only thing missing for me is a back up camera which I would get next time. I didn't drive the X3 but will next time just to see if the extra space is worth the handling. I have put over 7,000 miles on it in the last two months and have no complaints.

This question made me think for a minute. I don't think we'd get another one, but it has nothing to do with the car... I would just try something else out.
However, if the question were "If you could go back and do it again, would you still buy your X1?" My answer would be yes- with more options. For one thing, we got what was available... that day... because we had a road trip to go on and didn't want to rent a car. We should have. We would've added lighting package and premium package to sport/tech/heated seats that we got. I might even have bought an all wheel drive model if the numbers worked... The RWD one is noticeably lighter and more fun to drive, and mpg are great for what it is, and AWD owners seem disappointed in the mpg factor, so I guess your mileage may vary. I think our next ride will be the 2016/2017 diesel X3, and probably a lease instead of purchasing again. I'm realizing I should lease and not buy. |

I'd absolutely buy another X1 if this one died on me. But only if I could get a new one with the old iDrive. The lady in the box in the new BMWs drives me absolutely insane with the politeness, accent and perkiness, and gives me road rage.
