X1 on 20" M Performance rims.

Couple of weeks ago I ordered my OEM Performance rims from a German webshop.
http://www.leebmann24.de

Today the tires where placed and the wheels fitted.
Still to come (I hope end this month, delivery date sucks) is the B12 Eibach/Bilstein kit to lower 25mm and some wheel spacers on the rear, probably 15mm or 20mm. This lowering kit should be safer (and nicer looking I hope) then my stock suspension. As good as a M suspension but more comfortable. I hope it is true.

For now the rims look small, hope this will change with the lowering and spacers.
Stock 18" rims are for winter tires and yearly car inspection.
You don't notice and that is just fine, the brake's are painted black, it is more clean then stock. Didn't wanted to go for red because the brake disc are so small looking and the brake's itself aren't big and flat like a M model.

BTW: If ppl want to know.
All 4 sides 20x8J with 225/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport non runflats.
405 M Performance (normally for F3x, new 3 series, front wheels) ET30 so they come 6mm more to the inside but fits and looks perfect in the front, the rear fits perfect but just doesn't look so.

Thank you.

Actually it doesn't ride as hard as I thought it would.
Still comfortable, not hard at all but you do notice it the moment when the road is very bad, then again, on stock rims/tires you do as well but a little less.

I didn't notice any power reduction either but then, it was raining yesterday so can't compare (yet). Rims are lighter then stock so I don't think I would notice any.

Look at 405 M style for F30 3 series. F20 (1 series) has them as well but they're only 19" and ET would be completely wrong without spacers.

There isn't much goodies for the X1, no Performance parts at all I think.
I went true all 20" and 21" rims and looked at the ET value and came across like 4-8 style I loved and then decided. M6 GC rims where to wide and 7 series 21" rims only fit if you lower your profile of the tire and even then get a small tire on wider rim, like 225/30/21 on a 8,5J rim. For riding you need to drive like crazy gently and for Xdrive or higher weight of a X1 compared to smaller/lighter car I didn't dare it.

Attached some rims that will fit the X1.
(21x8,5J - 463 style is tricky like a mentioned)

Yes, still stock height.
Waiting for a sport suspension, they're changing the delivery date every time.

Yes, you may.
It isn't cheap, that is my opinion, it is actually kind of expensive.
Have a look at Leebmann (and compare to BMW websites).
Ordered a mobility kit and a jack kit as well.

Payed 500 euro for 1 rim (so 2.000 euro for the set), they where on sale coming from +600 a piece I think. (Center caps 4x8 euro, don't forget to order those, I wanted to have new one's, the old one's have there marks)
A lot cheaper then BMW dealer (+700 a piece) but it is the real deal (amazing, only 11kg for a 20"!). I think you know that OEM prices kill you.
Michelin Pilot Super Sport (non run flat!) tires x4 with placement, 1.000 euro.

I would do it again! Very happy with them.
Will post picture when I have my sport suspension and spacers.

I noticed my average consumption (on the screen) is lowered from 10,9l/100km to 10,6l/100km.
Bad news, still waiting for my sport suspension.

I needed my driveway parking space to wash my winter rims.
Looking up to the car I wanted a picture of my big lawn mower.

Lowered sport suspension still to come. Funny how small the rims look right now, not to mention the brake discs.

Black X1 on 20" 405M Performance rims and B12 Pro-kit suspension.

Since Saturday I have my car lowered with the B12 Pro-kit sport suspension.
It is -25mm or -30mm (technical data on Internet and ordering books are different). This kit consist out of Bilstein B6 dampers and Eibach springs.
(H&R lowers -40 to -50mm but the ride is much harder, with Bilstein B6 dampers it would be a good choice to.)

It doesn't lower much but at least it does. Comfort with my 20" rims (non RFT tires) and the sport suspension is OK, I still drive the same as I did with my stock 18" rims and suspension. I drive carefully at a bad road or speed bumps anyway.

Still testing and enjoying it everyday.
On normal and good roads, cornering, S-corners,... the ride is super.
When accelerating the noose don't come up anymore and in corners the body doesn't roll over anymore. However comfort is still OK but steering feedback is much better.

Some pictures so you have a idea.
20mm spacers for the rear rims still to come and picture included to proof it is needed.

Some remarks:

1) 20" still look small ( but 21" doesn't fit with normal tires and I do love my 405M's ).

2) The break discs a calibers look to small and stupid. However big brake kits aren't legal in Belgium with exception of a OEM brake kit (if exist, M performance brake kit doesn't exist for the E84). That is the reason I painted the brake calibers black instead off having red or gold one's.

3) Still a big gap between tire and wheel fender but you have to admit it looks nicer then before and I still have enough space to ride over everything.

I don't think they're too small at all. When you get to the point where you have a large wheel and a sliver of rubber, you've gone too far--irrespective of how the wheel looks on the car. And that suspension setup sounds good!

Thank you.

Next update to come. Car will go in bodywork shop.
I have damage (ice storm in Juli.. go figure Belgium) on the roof and hood.
Insurance is paying and I have a replacement car that week.

Meanwhile some other work will be done, at my expense .
Smoothing the front- and rear bumper, side skirts, wheel arches and rear mirrors.
And painting everything in body color. And on top of it all, a wax polishing. The man made me a good deal.
Getting those spacers painted as well.
