New X1 Owner Today!!
Today I ruled out all the competitors. I came home this evening with a 2014 X1 2.8 with the X Line, Premium Package, heated seats and Midnight Blue with oyster interior/orange piping. It's seems to be a great car with all the goodness of an E90 baked in. I'll post more early impressions in the days ahead. I'll attach a pic. Thanks!

Wonderful. I've had my white X1 M sport for three weeks. What a great car. Came from a Mini Countryman S when it's lease was up.
On another subject. How can I get privileges to posts new threads? I have sent two emails with no answer. |

The X1 seems to be 100% old school Bimmer. Solid, refined, quick, great quality and excellent handling. The deal clincher for me was the AWD X1's hydraulic steering. Everything I cross shopped it with had electric steering and was horrible in that respect. |

John Richard - As you can't yet start a new thread, how about a review of your new M sport 28xi. That's what I'm thinking of getting, and I'm quite interested in the handling of the M Sport version.

To compare the X1 to a Countryman S is like comparing a clear sky to one with smog. The BMW immediately impressed me with a tight and connected feel. Sorta like an Appe iPhone or Mac. Very high quality of design and workmanship. Mine came from the factory by way of the Oxnard, CA distribution center. It is the alpine white with black Nevada leather. It is an M sport with premium package, technology, xenon/adaptive and 19" wheels. The latter gave me some concern because I scuffed up my 18's on the Mini. So, I opted for fthe tire/wheel coverage for peace of mind at $48 extra a month. Keep in mind I only have 950 miles, so engine performance has been kept in check. I can say, though, I'm impressed. The transmission is super. MPG is about 20-ish in town and 27 + on the freeways. I don't put too much effort into maximizing mileage. This is my 10th BMW dating back to 1976. I get tired of cars quickly and need to upgrade. But, aside from a 2003 Cayanne and 1999 540i, this little guy is receiving high marks and is in my top three. I folded the rear seats flat so my 114# Golden/Newfoundland pooch can stick his head out the window. He, and I are pleased. The stiffer suspension is much flatter and more enjoyable than my Countryman. Also, the run flats are no way near as harsh as what were on the Mini. Here are the numbers. The car came in at $42,875. With $3200 into a 36 month 15,000 mile lease, my payment was exactly $600 (added to that was the $48 wheel thing). My dealer was Crevier in Orange County. I am very satisfied with everything. This car packs a LOT in such a small and affordable package. |
