My X1 25i

have been a stroller in this forum for 6 months now, finally taken delivery of my X1 a couple of weeks ago. Have clocked only a few hundreds, so far so good.

My previous car was an E90 330i.

As you can see from the photos, it's a Marrakesh Brown X1. Spec'ed it with Magma Brown upholstery. The local importer has included quite an awful lot of equipment as "standard". The only options I have are the Sport Suspension, X-Line and the Black Roofliner.

Here are the photos:-

Hi Sunnywuh, when did you order your X1 and how long did you wait for the delivery?

Hi there!
believe i was among the 1st batch to order the X1 back on January! I took delivery on early July, so literally the wait is over 6 months. I was told by BM HK that BMW Germany messed up some documents and that dragged on for over a month for licensing from TD.

Have you ordered yours? When will you take delivery?

I ordered mine in early June. BMW HK told me that the delivery date will be Sep/Oct. I hope I do not need to wait for 6 months.

There were some production delays earlier in the year due to supply problems with the XLine trim. This has been sorted so production back to normal, around 11 weeks from factory order to delivery in the UK.

Do you know whether this timeframe applies to Hong Kong as well?

Hi, All the same factory so yes. However I have no idea how long the shipping to HK will take. Factory to the UK is less than a week with the dealer taking a few extra days to prep the car. I take it factory to HK will take a lot longer.

So 10 weeks from order + 4 weeks shipping + a few days prepping = about 15weeks. I would say that if DavidKinMingChan ordered his car at the beginning of June he could realistically expect delivery from about the end of Sept then.

I have nothing to base this guestimate on though

That would be our best guess! Was told that the factory will be off a few weeks in August!

DavidKinMingChan - I now remember the Sales once told me that the second batch is due to arrive/taking delivery on Oct!

Thank you guys for the information. I hope my order is included in the 2nd batch. By the way, your order was included in the first batch right? How come they took almost six months to process the 2nd batch? Does it mean 2nd batch = 2nd shipment?

Yep the factory shuts in August for a summer break and to prep for the 2011 model year from week 35.

Coincidentally I have just had an update from my dealer this morning. My delivery date has come forward from mid-October to late September

Does it mean our X1 that will be delivered after the break would be 2011 model year?

It depends when it is built, not when its delivered. You would need to ask your dealer when your build slot is. If you are expecting delivery end Sept in HK I would think it would be a 2010 model but thats only a guess. Don't worry much about it though as there are very few changes. I started another thread a while back with the differences between the 2010/11 models and its not much. Biggest change in the UK is that the 2.3d is now available as a manual. Any build after week 35 (or from 30 Aug 2010) would be the 2011 model year.

Just for the record:

Colour Tasman has been dropped
New metallic white colour
New cheaper bluetooth option
Paddle shift available on more models together with the auto option
Compass in rear view mirror dropped

Thats pretty much it

Becoz BMW messed up the registration documents of 25i with 28i, was stuck for a month completely doing nothing at all!
