But anyone who arbitrarily puts a period between 2 and 8 in their description of their xdrive28, that's just unforgivable.

Let this be notice people. It's not an X1 3.5 or an X1 2.8, it's 35 and 28. The days of those numbers corresponding to displacement are over.

Lmao sounds like prematureapex is super proud of working on his car.

On a serious note, rears are very straightforward for DIY guys. The fronts are the trickier portion for xDrive cars because of the short axles when wiggling out the shock from the knuckle but work with a friend that has done one before and its not terrible either.

Thanks everyone for adding to the thread. I was able to install the coilovers with a friend, but am not happy about the front height adjustability at all. I'll comment about that issue elsewhere.

Overall, the install went pretty smoothly if you follow the BavarianAuto youtube I posted. The spreader tool I bought did not work because it didn't spread wide enough. Also, compressing the spring in the front was impossible due to lack of room. If you follow the youtube video, loosed said bolts, and turn the wheel, this could be done with a partner. Only suggestion I have is to use some PB blaster to help get the front assembly out.

And for you +40 year old guys... body is aching the following morning as expected. But, the feeling of satisfaction and hanging out with a body working on a project... priceless... LOL.
