BMW seal & protect

I'm not sure if I should get BMW seal & protect when I get my X1 2.3d in Alpine white in March.

Has anyone had experience of it or other after market paint sealants or wax's?

My only experience is my current 3 series which is the easiest to clean car I've ever had, even the rain washes off the dirt, I can't find any record of it having seal and protect or supagard treatment etc but I'm convinced it must have had?

I thought http://www.clean-image.co.uk/paint-s...protection.htm had some good articles on the various paint sealant protection systems but are they as good as the salesman says.

Also I would rather pay someone who knows what they are doing £200 for 4 hours work than me spending a day doing it with some stuff I've bought from Halfords, so money is NOT the point, ease of future cleaning is my priority.

I was also offered this service yesterday, here, the package is AU$3000, which I don't think I will be getting, my brother-in-law had the same package done, but he didn't find it of great advantage...

This is a "dealer sourced accessoirie" commonly offered in UK for £500
but not offered in France or in Spain as I understand by your post
They put wax on the car to protect it
Of course that can also be done later and somewhere else than at a BMW dealer

I received seal and protect free and applied it to the exterior paintwork myself which was a simple job.

However I didn't find it helped with washing the car which was disappointing, the dirt stuck to the paintwork as normal.

I have reverted to Glym super resin polish I used on my 3 series and find it is superior, in general I just need to use a pressure washer on my white X1 a quick sponge perhaps, then rinse again and that's it, a nice easy job the way I like it.

I would estimate the need to polish just once every 6 months and the polish goes on easily even if the car isn't completely dry, it's a very easy job.

Even the insects come of easily with the pressure washer.
