Costco deal???

I went in to talk to my sales man and when we talked about pricing he took out a Costco sheet and then did some calculations and came back with a lower number.

Fully loaded M sport is like $46, he said price would be like $44.

Anyone ever hear of this??

Not sure why he thinks I qualify for a Costco discount....I don't work for them or even have a membership.

I guess if it is a good deal then I don't care

3 year lease $0 down 10K miles a year $530 a month and that is including taxes....think it's a good deal?

You can do better than $2k off MSRP. I did almost $4k off MSRP on mine and it is a much less expensive car. Given that there is not as high a markup on options, you should still be able to match that. I'd look for at least another $1500-1800 off, which will translate into about $50/month lower lease rate.

Here's what you do..... First decide on the exact spec you want. If you are placing an order this makes life easier since you don't have to find the exact car on a dealer lot. Use the online configurator at bmwusa.com and print out your final car that you intend to order.

Then go into the dealership, meet with your salesman, tell him you are ready to give them a deposit and place the order today if they can give you the price you want. Before he leaves to go find out, tell him that if he cannot match the price, it does not mean he will lose your business, but you will need to go to some other BMW dealerships to see if they can give you that price.

This avoids any game playing and usually gets you the price you want. Plus with BMW Financial dealers are able to lock in a lease rate even on an ordered car, so best thing to do may be to negotiate the lease payment instead of the buy price. Just make sure all costs are itemized on the contract, including doc fee, bank fee, sales tax, motor vehicle fee, etc.

When I was shopping I was initially quoted a lease price of $365 (tax not included) on a car with a MSRP around $36,300. I went back and told him I wanted the lighting package thrown in and offered $360. He came back in 5 minutes and told me it had been approved.

BTW, I did look into both Cosco and Truecar.com, but neither one had prices as low as I was able to negotiate on my own.

I did a quick check at edmunds and without the floormats, edmunds says the average price paid for that car in the Boston area is $42,900.

I would try for around $42k. I'm not sure what kind of lease payment that translates into. My car is $37,225 MSRP. I don't remember the exact buy price as our contract only quoted my lease rate, but it is something in the low-to-mid 33s. And I do not qualify for the $500 loyalty cash, only the $750 incentive. So if I could get $3500+ off on a car with less of a markup, you should be able to do at least $4k off just by adding the $500 loyalty cash, without even taking into account the higher markup provided by all the additional options on your car.

I understand what you mean as far as having a lower payment. I used to pay $690/month on an X5. But times change and in this economy I was forced to cut my budget. At least I can still drive a BMW.

Thanks....looks like I need to have him sharpen the pencil if we order.

If I round $46k MSRP, if I get under $43k (the average you found) and get the loyalty and whatever the incentives might be I would be happy.

I got $4K off of 39.4K MSRP X1. $1200 of that were BMW incentives. Try using Truecar.com to "build" what you want and to get quotes from three local dealers.

That price included tax that was $3,587.5 and maco fee. My final price of $41,000 is out the door with all fees and taxes included. so it is in fact more than 20%

I didn't think there was that much room on these cars.

OK, my MSRP is $45,750 and it looks like the invoice is $42,035.

Difference of $3715.

What do you think I really should be able to get this for?

Your buy price should be lower than invoice considering there is $1250 in incentives. I would offer $41800. That gives them a $1k profit on the car, plus they also make money on the financing and there is some profit on holdback.

Then there are other factors to consider. For example, I got my car for under invoice and I only get $750 in incentives since I was not eligible for the loyalty cash. However my dealer has an unreasonable $300+ doc fee. Anything more than about $50 is pure profit for them, so I counted that when I was calculating what I was going to offer them.

I would offer $41,800. In my case i am a loyal buyer (5th car from same dealer) for the deal so i got all the hold back (trunk money) available plus the car had bin on the lot longer than they wanted and it was the end of the month they needed to sell 3 more cars that month. I originally ordered my car and switched to this one because the deal was too good.

For reference, here's our car that we leased on 11/13.

2014 X1 sDrive 28i with very similar features to yours. No HK, heated seats or auto high beams. We added 19" rims. I would also not recommend floor mats...the cars come with them.

MSRP: $42,925
Vehicle selling price: $37,365

36 months / 15K miles
Cash due on delivery: $1,507 for taxes, fees, 1st months payment.
Monthly payment: $508.71+$21.29 for tire and wheel and dent repair = $530.

You have a good deal going...
