AC condenser hit by stone and leaking freon, is it possible?

When conducting the 30k regular service for my x1 at the dealership, the service advisor told me my AC condenser was hit by stone, and is leaking freon. And he says this is not covered by warranty, and wanted to charge me more than $1600 for replacing it.

I am a little bit dubious about what he said. Is this really possible? Does anyone know the location of the condenser of x1? I assume it is under the hood, and impossible to be hit by anything. Or is it close to the bottom of the car?

Thanks everyone!

It's the first radiator looking part behind the kidney grilles. Does your AC work? If it works then call bullshit. If it blows warm, it's very possible that a rock/stone cracked one of the core passages.

If it's not leaking refrigerant then leave it alone! If it's damaged and leaking, then you may be able to make an insurance claim...but it will likely be a "collision" claim and subject to deductible as well as an increase in future premium.
