Nice sounding exhaust for n20 possible?

So aside from the $1,300 SuperSprint exhaust, there's no alternatives for the n20 e84?

Any way to achieve a deep throaty sound by changing or removing resonators/mufflers? I already have a DP btw.

Do a muffler delete. Search on YouTube for my video to hear it.

Sounds good. Do you think adding a small muffler would make the tone sound deeper?

Larger pipe will help lower the tone, or at least on my 2.0t gti it did.

I honestly wouldn't unless you delete one of the resonators since we have two of them.
I still have both and at cruising speed in quiet. When you get on it, it's loud but the perfect amount.

So far the few videos I've seen for 28i aftermarket exhaust generates less than inspiring "brap! brap! brap!" noise. The one posted included. Not a fan.

Maybe new generation of BMWs don't sound nice and therefore comes with synthetic exhaust notes via the speakers. YMMV of course.

N20 in E89 z428 is interesting. Sounds a bit like an evo.

I get that not everyone likes that though... at end of the day it's a turbo 4 cyl and need to accept that "good" 4cyl is different from "good" 6cyl or 8+ cyl

+1. It seems to be really hard to not end up sounding like a Dodge Neon SRT4.

I like the WRX/STi boxer rumbles. The exhaust note pulses like mini V8s. Maybe header designs might have something to do with it.

Subaru uses a horizonally opposed engine (boxer). No amount of tubing in the world will get a different engine layout to sound similar, inline 4 included.

These sound good to me... Seems like the most attainable/affordable one would be a custom Magnaflow. Anyone know the stock diameter piping?

You guys have to remember those won't bolt on directly. You will have to modify them in some way to make them fit.

True. I was only posting to show that it's possible for the n20 to sound somewhat decent/better. Anyone try a custom exhaust using parts from Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or Vibrant?

I have DP + custom 3" mandrel bend with a Vibrant streetpower 1149 since was the only exhaust that I could find that had 3" inlet with dual 3" slashcut tips.

Later on i will put a V-Band between DP and Exhaust to avoid de 2.5" reduction on the DP.

Exactly. Missed that boxer burble.

Since our e84 is based off the e9x chassis, would the cat-backs that fit the e9x work for our e84s?

Personally I'd be happy to get rid of the clickity clack from the n20. So friggin nasty.

No it won't fit. You would need to modify it. And at that point you should just go custom.
