991's are almost as stable as the Cayman. 993's remain my absolute favorite, but the market realizes that and prices are goofy. 964's were fun too, but 993's look better and have a little nicer interior.

The problem with 993s is that they are everyone's favorite

, so prices on low mileage ones are outrageous, you'll pay 2015 MSRP for them which is nuts. There's a Turbo S on ebay right now for $500k... that's unbelievable for something with a 911 badge, 5 years ago you could get into an F40 for around that price

Which is why I've sort of been watching 964 3.3 and 3.6 Turbos instead.

+1 to the above. I rented a base boxster the last time I was in southern CA, went to the canyons, and never had more fun. It's easy to just get drunk on horsepower and torque these days, and forget what a relatively light normally aspirated car feels like. Porsche does it best.

On the base 991, it's a fabulous car. The sound, the steering, the low seating position (compared to an M235), and a normally aspirated engine all contribute to the sensation of speed in that car, IMO.

I too was impressed with my 991 C2. I really had no negative feedback other than stuff I'm anal about like the OEM wheel gap. Couldn't believe how comfortable the car was. Impressive fuel economy and the Frunk never disappointed me. I have no idea how porsche does it. The 3.4 gets a bum rap but it's very capable. Engine screams, too.
