Heavy steering in x1

Hi guys,
I've just recently bought my wife a new x1 23d msport.
It's a good car and she really likes it except for the heavy steering at slow manouvering speeds.
I asked the local dealer if there was anything that could be done to lighten it up but the guy in the service department just didn't seem interested and said no straight away.
A couple of years ago I had an Audi rs6 that had the same problem and I went to see an independent Audi specialist (a former Audi master tech) and reprogrammed the steering into thinking it had a three litre diesel engine in it.
It did the trick and lightend it superbly.
So has anyone done this or knows of a better solution?

Thanks for any help.

My wife found the steering heavy in ours for the first few months, now she's used to it she baerly notices the weight and actually really likes its feedback. I'd leave it for a bit, see how she gets on.
