Anyone out there that ISN'T in the US or Canada?

At the risk of offending the sensitive types...

When I first joined this forum, it was before the X1 launched in North America. There was a range of varied posts from owners in Europe, the Far East, Africa and Australia.

Then it launched in the US - since then it seems every post is about US deals, US fuel economy, US complaints about stuff I find banal - it's become the US X1 forum.

In short, this forum is now pretty much useless to me as an X1 owner outside of North America. I just wondered what happened to the other non-NA posters who used to contribute - Mario, manicm, tompak and so on...

None taken here - was kind of hoping more of the D owners (obviously in countries outside of the US since we don't get that choice) would be contributing here as that would have been my first choice.

Hey

I'm still here

I'm UK based and still reading/posting on the forum. I do agree there is a lot more US & Canadian input, but I guess the X1 is selling at lot more over there than in Europe, and the owners are more into forums?

Most other BM owners I know are not into car forums at all, and often ask me why I bother as it's only an X1! I guess they'll just never get it.

I'm going be over in Guernsey mid August, so will keep my eyes peeled for you. Waitrose car park again I guess.

J.

Seems to be the nature of forums.

I'm a moderator at Golfmk6.com and it started with a mostly non North American crowd. Then a year later it was released in North America and the tables turned. Golfmk7.com is the same. Mostly rest of world posting, but I know that too will change in it launches here in next Spring.

Sorry

Actually I'm suprised anyone other than people in North America use this site. The 3 series site which I read a lot because I own one is almost all North America. The engines over here are almost all 2.0 and 3.0 turbo gas engines so there is probably little interest from Europe to read about them since Europe is mostly diesel or smaller gas engines due to taxes. You gas have had the X1 for 3+ years and we have had it less thn one so its still "new" here. Our market is a lot bigger than Western Europe as well with 17+ million vs 11+ plus for Western Europe.

Hi from Australia. Drop in every other day, sometimes the posts don't interest me much, but if something does and I can add to it, I will. I have a vermillion red diesel x drive, love it. Test drove a petrol one and the torque of the diesel was a lot more fun.

Taking delivery of my X1 20d in three days... So Norway will be present as well. I'm looking forward to comparing the driving capabilities with the X3 which is my "X" experience so far. Smaller, faster, more agile, more fun from what I hear and from what I experienced during the test drives. But that was an 18d so I have some expectations wrt the 20d.

Australian with a vermillion red diesel S-Drive here.

I agree that this forum has become a little US centric since they released them there. But there are a lot of owners up there. And if you think back, before the release was announced by BMW this forum was full of Americans bitching about not getting the X1.

Anyway, I don't comment much as deal prices and analysing MPG averages doesn't really grab my attention.

But this forum was helpful when I was considering the purchase 3 years ago. So thanks for that fellow owners

Australian Jet Black 23d xdrive. Used to browse daily, now tend to drop by because 1) the price the yanks pay for BMW's upset me - we get torn a new one here in Aus and 2) can't contribute to MPG for turbo petrol as I have a diesel. Love my X1, will contribute where I can but just casually these days.

There is no need to feel weird about this.

Due to the fact that NA is a bigger market, obviously you will get more posts from those members. However, many posts are very useful to all the X1 owners, since is not always about gas consumption and prices. So, saying that is useless is a little bit too much.
If the info in regards with North America is not useful to you, you should start some different threads about Europe models, diesel engines, etc. I don't think somebody will say something about it.

In the other hand, many of us, we live in here, but we are also from different continents as well, including Europe.
