Which X1 Accessories Are Your Favorites, and Which Were Duds?

Are there any purchases you regret making? And which X1 accessories are considered "must haves"?

There really isn't many accessories for the X1. I have the BMW branded all weather mats, I'd consider them a must have

I got spoiled with the camera system I had in my previous Inifiniti EX35. In fact the overhead camera was the one highlight of that vehicle. I thought that the X1's rear view camera would be much inferior but having gotten used to it and the guiding lines, I find it invaluable for backing into parking spots.

I wish my X1 had a backup camera ... it does have the technology package with nav ... I wonder if the only thing I would need is just the camera for the lift gate?

I think the OP was asking about accessories and not options since his sig says he's ordered already. Just sayin

I love the sunglass holder that replaces the overhead driver's handle. Also the splash guards seem helpful, altho i haven't installed mine yet (still looking for options to glossyfy them). People give positive feedback on the hood insulation but i can't justify the price to get one.

I used F30 mats in the front. The half carpet half rubber ones. I like em alot! Fits decent, more sturdy than regular carpet, and has a nice red trim. Matches the red leather

the rubber trunk mat is a must. keeps things from sliding around, and protects the trunk from liquids and dirt.

sunglass holder replacement for the driver side handle is nice, not needed, but nice.

iphone adapter. It's nice on a trip to allow the passenger to be able to also stream music and recharge. to expensive which makes it a dud

Does anyone have any experience with universal Michelin all weather mats? Or universal mats in general?

I had michelin mats in my truck and I liked them. I wouldn't have paid for the BMW mats. In fact, if I had the choice I would have bought weather tech mats.

I love my weather tech mat for the trunk area. Also my auto-dim rearview mirror w/homelink and compass. If you don't have one, it's a 2-minute install. I bought mine on Ebay for $99.00. And window tint!!!

Correct. I'm just talking about add-ons.

Have any pictures? How is the fitment (since these are not for the E84)?

I have installed couple cheap universal accessories that are doing what they are supposed to do pretty beautifully Got a sunglasses holder for AU$5 and a mobile holder/charger that goes into cigarette lighter port for AU$15. Though not an accessory, just to give some contrast around the radio/ac area I bought a chrome moulding trim for AU$3.50.

I also wanted to install BMW's centre console DVD system so I went above and beyond to finally make them say "ya it's available for Australia" as they initially just told me off. They asked around AU$2,300 for it but I was hoping to get it for $2000 but for some reason they don't seem to be showing interest about it and I'm tried of chasing it up. More importantly, I found this USB TV stick thing on computers, so have bought a head-rest tablet holder for my surface pro and the usb stick to watch movies and TV on the go I only spend around AU$60 for the whole thing . TV isn't usable while driving so at the moment looking around if upgrading antenna might help a bit.

performance grill is great. Gives the car a mean look.

I also got yellow covers for the fog lights. not needed, but kinda cool.

Not exactly and accessory but I converted the big trunk panel to more functional to me. It works perfect for grocery bags. It slopes down toward the seats so nothing can escape. Also you can see where the small panel fits behind the seats.

You know there are grocery bag hooks built into the plastic in the trunk

ooops re the camera.

my trunk liner has BMW embossed on it and feels of much lower quality than Weathertechs I have had in previous vehicles. It was negotiated in so
I can't complain.

What I would really like to see is something that could be used to hold a cell phone that fits in the passenger side cupholder. Either the in the slot for the cupholder or in the holder itself. Does something like this exist?
