Speaking for the 28i w/BMS Stage 1:

The D shift points are better matched to the torque curve than DS under full throttle (IMO). DS over revs a bit. DS does offer better performance overall in terms of transmission and throttle response. My wife never touches the paddles and simply moves to DS when she needs performance. I drive primarily in D and paddle shift as needed.

Before the tune I found ECO PRO absolutely useless due to anemic throttle response and acceleration. With the tune, it is actually usable as there seems to be some torque available without having to mash the gas pedal. I recently have been using it on the HWY when there is congestion and no need for aggressive passing; or when I'm in no hurry and want to drive luxuriously. The computer tells me that ECO PRO gains me about +1 MPG. You can still paddle shift or move to DS while in ECO PRO.

On the 35i, it doesn't tell you an increase in mpg, but how many extra miles you can go, cumulative for driving with ECOPRO. Here in the cold north, where there's still little advantage to reducing the AC, it's almost always between +0.0 mls and +0.9 mls - it slowly creeps up, and drops down quickly if you have to stop or give gas.

Gaining a mile on a full tank just isn't worth it. Given that I can go 380 miles on a $56 gas fill, an increase to 381 miles drops the costs to $55.85. Woo hoo, 15 cents saved on a full tank.

(Is this my post #500? Will there be fireworks?)

I received the cable from HongKong Monday and started right away. After 48 hours here we go, Yes the flash and the Paddles work on my 2013 X1 M xdrive 35i. With the Dinan stage 2 (I got it free of charge), the paddles, spacers 15mm back and 12mm front. I have the perfect car with a minimum investment. The new D mode from ALPINA with the 70 extra torque from the DINAN stage 2 works amazing, it is so smooth but if you push it goes well as the downshift is so fast with the ALPINA flash. The paddles are now as fun as driving with the DCT on the 9114s!

I also had some scary moments and little sleep the last 2 nights to make it working, 24 hours to make it work for the flash without paddles and another 24 hours to fix the paddles. I think the procedure is solid but the difficult part is to set-up a PC with the correct files and config. For me:
-SP-daten-E89_v49
-WinKFP 32 bit version 5.3.1
- Coapi Version 3.13.2
- Ediabas V7.3.1
- MacBook Air with VMware and window XP
See below the car was completely frozen for 24 hours... if you have only one car DONT DO IT YOURSELF because you need to stay calm. Still less than 1000 miles, it is time to enjoy it now. I will ping DINAN again about the exhaust and stage 3...The last picture is the successful coding of the paddles.

On my 28i the ECO gain rarely drops but rises cumulatively. I'm using my brain to estimate +3.5 miles after 100 miles is about +1 MPG when I average about 30 MPG HWY without ECO PRO.

lol...this might have me sold on the 35i now. I've been debating the 28 vs the 35....fun+power vs a bit better fuel economy. Considering my spring/summer/fall DD is ~190mi before a fill up (about 0.25-0.33 left in the tank)....381 is pretty damn good. It'll be tough coming from a MCS either way (as far as mpg goes).

I imagine ECO PRO has far more of an impact on the 28i. For one thing, you have ASS, while we 35i owners only have HAUL ASS. And I believe on the 28i, ECO PRO also reduces acceleration, instead of just warning about it.
On the 35i, the button appears to function like the "rear fan off" found on other cars, plus a warning light that comes on if you accelerate, brake to a stop, or exceed 80 mph.
After driving like a bone china salesman for a couple of days, I got it up to +0.9 mls. So, not worth it, except to prevent blowing cold air on the dogs in the rear.

The picture in the manual is hilarious - ECO PRO extending the range +100 mls on one tank? I don't think so
(A good example of why engineering departments should always double-check what marketing does.)

Congrats on getting your ride customized to your liking, and getting that xmission flash to finally work. The Dinan tune feels good

Appointment Friday to have the dealership swap the tires (going to summer rubber) and add the mud flaps to the vehicle. I'm also going to pay to have them go ahead and change the oil at approx. 3500 miles on the odo.

DD? Dodge Dart? They reduced the size of the fuel tank in the new one to cure the explosions ?

380 miles on 16.6 gallons isn't that great - it's 22.9 mpg. But it's such a fun car to drive.

Ha! I daily drive my Moupe from when the spring rains wash the salt off the roads to just before first snow/road salting. 22.9mpg is 'great' relative to other other vehicles, but it is still better than or on par with a lot of what is on the road. It's certainly better than the 17-19mpg I get with the Moupe and it (X1) has a bigger gas tank. It's like having your cake and eating it, too! Plus having 300hp and torque at your disposal.

The Valvetronic on the N55 supposedly reduces gas consumption compared to the N54, by restricting the time for gas intake. I think it's a great little engine.

When I drive for fun, I get around 19 mpg, but everyday use is 22.9. Nothing really to complain about there, for the type of vehicle it is.

My other car with a 302cc V8 gets 14.4 mpg.
(It still has a range of 300 miles, due to the 21 gallon tank.)

I have 17.8 MPG under eco pro( 80%+) on my 35i m with 19''(mostly city), fell like a honda crv...
drive under non-eco pro mode, I will have 14-16 mpg, not a aggressive driver
had a 2000 miles trip from OK to TN, all highway miles, 22 mpg

Why buy a 35i if you are going to crawl around in ECO PRO?

Wow...at first I was thinking maybe the angle of that last pic created a bit of an illusion, but, after seeing the other pix, there does appear to be quite a large wheel gap!

this is 18" + sport suspension ( added as an option )
the suspension is normal height but is new, so probably after some kilometers it'a a little go down.....
comparing to other X1's in Europe it's look normal

p.s and I am not so good photographer
probably i chose wrong angle to make a pictures.
