Audi has not certified the Q3 with CARB. Until they do, it has no chance of coming here.

At least the X1 has passed that hurdle, so it still has a chance.

This noncommital stuff sure is frustrating. If it were completely cancelled for the US I would expect them to say so. I can't imagine why they'd refrain. This is almost as bad as the pathetic Saab saga. Neither one will completely die, but neither is showing many life signs either.....

If BMW insists on waiting to introduce the X1 to the US market, they won't have to worry about production capacity at Leipzig since those that need to replace their current vehicle will already have done so with another brand. Which is good news for the rest of us who aren't on any time table constraints and can afford to play the waiting game. ....

Wonder if this whole thing is sort of like the concert promoter who promised Beatles fans a reunion concert if they bought tickets in advance and some people are still waiting for the band to take the stage in-spite of the fact that John & George are no longer with us.

We may just have to face reality and prepare ourselves that the X1 may never come to the US market. The more I think of it, the more I'm getting in feeling that BMW is treating the US market like the ugly stepchild. I think I'll stop now......

I am one of those people. We got a Jetta TDI wagon instead. Granted, we were so charmed by the TDI that even if the X1 were here today it probably would not have made the cut, just as the Mini Countryman did not.

Well, I think we'll get an X1 eventually. But it could very well be that the e84 never makes it here, and we instead must wait for the next generation F2x X1. If they decide to build that model in South Carolina this time, then I think it's almost guaranteed to be sold here. And it will probably be a lot cheaper to produce too.

Yes, but the next generation X1 will be the size of the X3, the X3 will be the size of the X5, and the X5 will have 18 wheels!

Just as we all thought...

Quote:
Thanks to surprising sales in other markets and an unfriendly exchange rate, BMW has postponed the planned launch of the X1 in the US indefinitely. This word comes straight from BMWNA this past weekend at Monterey.
The X1 was originally planned for the fall of 2010 and then again for the spring of 2011. Now with the word “indefinite” being used it’s hard to tell when or if it will come to the US. But we have an idea.
We do expect the X1 ultimately on these shores. What could likely happen is for BMW to launch the X1 in the US in conjunction with it’s refresh in two years time. If that does happen, we’d expect for the baby SAV to come to the US market with the N20 and all wheel drive as the only powertrain available.

Ah! That post was completely ambiguous without reading the link(which I obviously didn't).

Very dissappoiting after seeing X1s testing here in socal. What a tease.

No prob. You probably saw them in SD since they wandered over the border from Tijuana. Yeah, Mexico and Canada has em but we get the shaft. If they ever reinstate the draft, we can all move to Canada and drive X1's!

No, I actually saw many BMW prototypes on the road over the past 2 years on my way to work: F10 M5, Mini Countryman, X1 35i Xdrive, F12 650i vert, F25 X3, etc. I must have been on their test route, but I've since switched jobs and don't travel that way anymore.

About the only BMW I've seen come across the border is the 1-series hatchbacks that we don't have in the US.

They were probably CARB testing.

Spotted a black X1 this AM in metro Detroit area at the local Starbucks. I would have snapped a better pic but he was pulling out and I was pulling in... it caught me by surprise to say the least.

I realize it was a quick look, but did you happen to notice if the tags were US or Canada?

Good catch, Agent11br.

I'll betcha that was a Canadian model. That's nice, but I'll bet that the owner paid as much for that as an X3 28i in the US (not that that fact would stop me from preferring the smaller, more nimble X1). Canadians get totally jacked on pricing (along with the ROW I guess ).

Likely a Candian model. Windsor is just on the other side of the Detroit River, and those sneaky little bastards sneak over all the time.

Probably true on the cost of the Canadian X1, but don't they deserve to get jacked?

I'm holding out for the X1 figuring they will release it for the US market eventually. Don't know how much longer I can take riding around in my E92. Geez, it's been 4 1/2 years that I've been saddled with it...

I can tell you to the penny how much they will make not selling them in the meantime.

$0.00

You get out, what you put in.
