Nav update USB stick

I got my car back today after having the CIC replaced. I had previously up-dated the software to the '15 information. When I received the car back, for whatever reason, the Nav information reverted to the '13 data. I plugged the USB stick into the USB in the glove box and the download started immediately. I was not prompted to enter the pass code that I was furnished with the up-date. It seems as is the registration code is stored on the stick and it is truly a car specific use.

I presume the CIC is Car Information Computer. What was the problem?

That is the main computer that controls the entire car. The iDrive was doing crazy things: the radio wouldn't work for several minutes, I was unable to display the radio information on split screen, the car would forget where it was set after it was turned off, and other weird things. They also replaced the Sirius module, because the radio stopped working and when I called Sirius to send a hit to the radio, I was told that the ESN had changed. The iDrive system works much faster and better now. I'm sure that part of it was due to the firmware being up-dated to the latest version from the original that came with the car. The auto start/stop now works the way it should.

Interesting as my ASS doesn't remember the last setting used (as I understand it should). I understand the ASS should remain off until turned on again at a later date - isn't that correct? So, I'm wondering if the CIC has an issue if it fixed your ASS.

I had my 2014 in for it's first service recently and they supposedly updated software to fix it but no luck. I asked him if they could program it to be OFF as the default but they said they couldn't.
