When my X1 comes in I hope it is fully integrated with the iPhone 5... One of the main reasons I bought the car is cause of the technology and gadgets...

Both my wife (4s) and I (5) can have our phones synced and active at the same time which I could not do in our previous iDrive (no combox).

Honestly... it will all be better than what I have. I have a 2011 SS Camaro with no technology in it. My Fiance has a 2012 135i M package and I love her integration with her droid. Taking calls and listening to music is really all I am looking for. Taking delivery at the Performance center for her car is what really turned me onto BMW.

The Apple integration is much better than Android so you will be happy!

Perhaps this will help. I checked the BMW website:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...eck_intro.html selected appropriate drop downs and then keyed in my last 7 digits of my VIN, specified my carrier, and the iPhone 5. The website indicated that office functions are NOT available. So, it depends on the software installed in your system and the carrier. Vince. |

I have an iPhone 5 and I'm not happy with the way the white lightning usb cable integrates with the coral red interior. I purchased the Griffin Coiled USB-to-Lightning Cable and it integrates quite nicely.
I am also using a Monster iCable with a cigarette USB adapter for my wife to charge her 4s in the passenger or back seat. I will sometimes leave the phone in the cupholder but usually tuck it beside the hand brake (when not in my pocket). |

This morning, just discovered that SMS does show up on the display. I received a txt msg while driving and of course, it pops up on the iPhone screen. I didn't pay attention to it until I got to a stop light. Then noticed that a little email icon was displayed on the X1 screen. Never saw that before! So, selected the Office function from the main menu and there was the SMS listed! I was even able to get the TXT to Speech to work and text was read out loud. But I guess once that's done, it's no longer available to display on the X1 screen. It's no longer listed.

Sweet. I did not know these 3rd party cables were available yet. The white apple cable has been getting on my nerves since it is too long for the car. Will be picking one of these up!
