Tires

It is that time, the sad moment we all dread: I need new tires.

What's everyone here running as replacements? Did you go normal or did you stay with run-flat?

Mine has 225/45R18 all around, and I'm looking at:
General G-MAX AS-03
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
Cooper RS3-A
Continental ExtremeContact DW
Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position

Any recommendations listed here or not? Any bad experiences I should definitively avoid?

Thanks!

What? New tire time is fun time!

What do you want out of your tires?
Quiet, sticky, high mileage, eco, drive in freezing temps, any snow, mud, aggressive driving, responsive, forgiving... You really need to narrow it down to SOME sort of criteria.

Going for all-season. We get a little snow and ice, but nothing a day off won't fix. Winter here is mostly rain.

My driving style is, according to some, "spirited".

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
or
Continental Extreme Contact DWS
I've ran both, prefer the michelin but you pay quite a bit more for them so it depends on budget.

Continental ExtremeContact DW, I loved these tires. Bought three sets of these, second choice is Bridgestone RE760. Neither of these two are all season and will suck in the winter both for grip and ride.

+1 on the RE760's - I had these on my previous car and they were amazing, very tempted to get these again.

I heard Firestone or another company was repackaging some set of fantastic Bridgestone tires - might want to look into that.

I'm running Bridgestone RE760's. I tried the Conti DW but burned them up rather quickly. I've had several sets of the 760's on my 3 series and was very happy. They're a good compromise between wear and handling.
