Sorry this is happening to you. Did they give any indication as to what the problem is? you already had your timing chain replaced If I'm not mistaken so I'm wondering what is going on?

I sent an email to BMW Canada. Hoping they will have some "good will" as I'm out of warranty. Lot of people seem to have issues with the N20 and BMW seem open to help

Just came across this, friend had this issue, JB4 wiring was messed up or loose/exposed wires crossing- wiring will stop the car from starting as the connections are dead. We re-installed and everything was working. Dealer and German shop couldnt figure it out kept telling us all these things were wrong because they didnt know how the JB4 worked.

Sucks your engine is dead, I would have them check the wiring just incase they are guessing.

UPDATE

For anyone in the same boat as I was, BMW Canada paid 100% of the BRAND NEW ENGINE. I only paid LABOR. If this situation happens To you, be PATIENT, fight back. If they tell you they can't do anything or say they didn't help anyone with this issue THEY ARE LYING TO YOUR FACE.

I did found a link

It fits what my car did to a T but they say it only affect
X1 Series vehicles produced July 3, 2013 – July 17, 2013...

Minesis a 2011 production. Weird. The car got exactly all the problems described in this PDF.
Mine is a 2012 (put on road on 2011) and I had the recall done by BMW. You should check with the dealer. Maybe is too late now...

Hmm, I am preparing as we speak the documents to sue them. They paid only half for mine.
