It's even LESS an SUV than before. They're crossovers, not SUVs. The new styling is OK, but then compared to the donor Mini, it's almost beautiful.

Looks like a generic CUV now. I greatly prefer the distinct weirdness of the E84.

Definitely keeping mine. My 2010 x1 is wonderful, and the 23d engine is fantastic, so no reason to change it for a new generation yet.
Even if i also drive a 5 Series E60 and a Passat B6, the little (not so little though ) X1 puts a smile on my face everytime i take it for a ride, often i skip the other cars and choose the X1. Very good dynamics, joyful handling, great traction, very robust vehicle overall.
Also, the best deal in the BMW line-up, seems it suits everyone.

I personally don't think the current x1 is ugly at all, especially with msport package - i think it actually looks nicer than the new x1 (based on renderings).

The new x1 looks like a Mazda CX-5 to me. And it's not ugly neither, its just a typical/generic design that you see on road everyday IMO.

I like the new design inside and out but I am not buying a new one. Have a 4 year loan on my X1 and hope to have a few years of no payments.

Awesome!
Give me a ring when you get it, I want to see it. I am thinking to buy an M2 too, but I am keeping the X1 as well. It is too fun, practical, small but not small, and very agile to not enjoying it!

I'm not ready to spend any more money, and I couldn't be more pleased with the current generation. It's 'just right' for size, a sweet handler, and it will go like hell if you ask it to.
Being a little lower than the current X3, it has a bit lower center of gravity, but it still sits high enough to give better visibility.
I love the damned thing, and I'm keeping it.

Yes you have said that right. What most people don't know or understand is that the X1 is based on the last generation 3 series. the X1 is basically a Bran New-Old 3 series! It still has hydraulic steering as a bonus!

I think the new one is getting away from its roots. Its the perfect car for a family of 4 or less, or a for a first car!

I will keep mine until the wheels fall off!

Would love to change up to an M2 but unfortunately the Greedy Luxury Car Tax and other Taxes + 4000 or more Dealer Delivery Charges in Aust. will overprice it for my liking.
You've done a lot with your X1. Good to read your next choice will be the M2.
Cheers.

When mine gets past the warranty period I'll be looking at a Honda Pilot. Need something a little bigger and the new Pilot looks like a good fit. The only BMW I'd consider would be a 2 series.

Hell, if you took it apart, you could probably fit the X1 behind the second row of the Pilot.

Honda makes the best minivans. With, and without, sliding doors.

Thoughts to Trade my X1 on the Macan or M2 BUT High Taxes here + Other Rip Offs put them out of my reach. Péd off but not disappointed to be keeping my X1.

43,000 Km's. 3 I/2 Yrs. 1/2 Year out of Warranty. Small leak in 2 of the RFT's. No other problems.
Recent 900 Km's round road trip with Constant High Speed on Freeways and Highways. Hard Acceleration when Passing. Some City Traffic. Driven pretty hard.
What's not to like about Overall 5.5L/100Km Fuel Consumption. I use Premium Diesel Fuel.

For the Trip I had New Chrome Staggered Wheels c/w Non RF PSS Tyres. A huge difference compared to my Old Original RFT's Set Up.
Will be putting a MILD Chip. It will give it 220bhp+, 170Kw+, 420Nm+ and better Fuel Consumption.

Didn't want to go into what I'm doing, just trying to say the current X1 lends itself to some great Mods.
When I compare my X1 to similar other cars including Petrol, currant and coming out I cant fault mine from a Realistic Point of View.

"...we wish the X1 were a bit more involving. We miss the willingness of its predecessor when you would toss it into and through corners."
