Disable auto-stop by hard press on brake?

From the manual:

"Preventing the engine stop using the brake pedal:

The engine stop can be actively prevented within one second after the vehicle comes to a standstill.
▷ Depress the brake pedal briefly and forcefully immediately after the vehicle comes to a standstill.
▷ Then continue depressing the brake pedal with normal braking force."

I've tried this many times and it never works. Am I doing something wrong or is this a case of the car not doing what the manual says it should??

It is very subtitle. The best way I can describe is almost like a mouse click.
When the vehicle comes to a stop, click the brake pedal ;-)
It is easiest to take some pressure off the break pedal before you come to a complete stop.

Very true
I forced myself to use ASS for one complete tank of fuel. After that I can control it at will.
I did not see a big enough difference to keep on using it though.
I still use it at a few stoplights on my way to work that stay red for a long time.
I still think is is a very useful feature for some people.
It is not as bad as some people make it out to be.
Spend some time with it, then decide if it makes sense to use for your circumstance.

Thanks for the replies. Was able to get it to work, I guess I was jamming the pedal too hard or too long.
I don't expect to use it much if at all, it just bugs me when I read about a feature in the manual that doesn't seem to work!

I tried it for the first couple months of ownership. Couldn't stand it and had my dealer change my software to leave it off.

When I want to disable the ASS feature, which is typically while driving in stop and go traffic, I simply flick the shifter left into Sport mode. It's much easier than reaching for the disable button or messing with the brake pedal.

I never got the brake petal timing down to stop the ASS from kicking in. I also use the sport mode to kill it if I want it on but have hit a stop sign or some such.

I actually like to use it in part of my commute that have crazy long lights.

Those manual instructions don't ring true to me. I drive with ASS on but if I am coming to a stop where I don't expect to me stopped long, I EASE into the stop. I don't quickly and "forcefully" hit the brake and then ease. It is hard to describe, but once you learn the touch that works for you, it's fairly easy to not engage ASS when you don't want to. At least that's my experience. However, if I am in stop-and-go traffic, which happens in Los Angeles (!!!), I have to remind myself to just turn off ASS. That's the situation where ASS will sometimes engage and can be irritating. On the other hand, on hills etc., ASS will not engage, and I get antsy if it's a long stop, thinking about the gas I otherwise would not be burning...

+1 If I'm at a stop sign or light put easy pressure on the pedal and the engine will not shut off.
