Zero power so if that does not matter, go for it.

NO, it wouldnt be close at all FRS would blow an x1 out of the water. On a tight track the handling of the FRS would reign supreme and i dont think a 4 cyl x1 would have enough power to make up the handling difference on a longer track. Let alone the fact that the x1 weighs at least 500lbs heavier.

Not a fan of the Miata or Genesis Coupe exteriors. I do like the interior of the Gen Coupe, quality seems nice, but the exterior look of the car just doesn't do it for me.
I should also mention that I have no intention of taking a car to the track, so not really concerned about track stats This would just be my daily driver, that I would drive spiritedly, when appropriate

Get off this forum and go test drive the car!
1) Test drive the frs/brz. 2) Then go test drive an equally priced car with more balls like a mustang GT (track pack available) or camaro SS (1LE, best handling car below $40k, CPO around $30k). Why?... Because the biggest question when it comes to the frs/brz is if you can live with the lackluster acceleration escpecially when chances are on the street, it is easier to find a straight away than it is to find a safe series of corners to truly enjoy the handling. |

is there a way to make the BRZ fast? like a tune or something?
i've done zero research since i'm not really interested in them but thought it would be good information for others that are researching them and come across this thread. if they ever to create an sti edition, i would be interested.

I would probably consider that if I were looking for a secondary car, but for my DD, I'm looking to lease a new car. I'll be upside down in whatever situation, so I'm trying to minimize my losses as much as possible. That's if I even switch over; this is all just hypothetical for the moment.

Lol, you're exactly right, that's the one question that's been stuck in the back of my mind. As for American muscle, I've always loved the Camaro and the Mustang, equally. Although, I really don't like the look of the 2014-15 Camaro, so it would either be to buy a CPO '13 Camaro (which is not an option at this time) or wait for the '16, which is more tolerable for me than the previous generation. Then there's the Stang....

They are pretty much putting zl1 handling and z/28 acceleration into an SS camaro at $35k. It really will be a huge game changer for the performance market. |

For $25 k I'd look hard and far and wide for an 08 s2000 CR with the hardtop.
The twins are gutless on the street, everyone and their moms minivan will pass you at will on the highway Yes the "handling" will be there, but you'd have to go out of your way to find nice stretches of road. The interior will fall apart. Tail lights will find ways to collect cups of water, rattles up to butt, tq dip in the middle of the powerband for NO reason beause Subaru. My cousin owned a 2012 for 3 yrs and put over 40k miles on it. He couldn't be happier to get rid of that thing. With 3 passengers he could not pass up a mid 90s astro van on the freeway to get into the exit lane cuz the van driver was being an ass. Think about that |

And like i mentioned before, the sti edition isnt going to be much more powerful, if any, since they arent going to turbo the car. If they gave it the same amount of power as a wrx, it would gut into those sales too much. |

great car. great handling.....in a small light package.
don't worry you will get TONS of 335 owners telling you it is 'too slow'....they don't get it. they're all about 0-60 times and how adding a 'tune' will get you 50 more hp, MAAAAN. The reality is that cars are about how they feel....straight line speed is only ONE attribute.......and a BRZ handles better than almost anything out there for its price....... the best cars are the ones that make you feel good....not the ones that have the best statistics. |

the whole premise behind having less HP is that you can USE all the HP freely without having to worry about crossing the limit. Driving a slow car fast can be very exciting.....and hence the charm in cars like the Miata and BRZ. I'm saying this as a 1M owner....a car that feels insanely rabid all the time-----but i have a huge appreciation for 'lesser' powered cars that are well balanced and well engineered like the BRZ. You can WIND THEM OUT and still not feel like you are in illegal driving mode.....and that's really a lot of fun. |

I've driven the BRZ and I can tell you it's one of the better handling cars I've ever driven, and I have driven Porsch and BMWs. It put my F30 to shame. I've always had a Subaru in my garage. The symmetrical AWD is the best AWD in my opinion. Nothing like full time AWD all the time even in summer times. You won't be dissapointed by its handling but if you're looking fir straight line power then there is some dissapointment there. Also the quality of the interior is not on the same level as the BMW but it's less than 30 grands so some compromise there.

Good question, I actually have a FRS and was joking with my friend who also had one about how slow it is in a straight line. I also had a X1 28i loaner at the time so we went for a bit of fun. Needless the say, the X1 FEELS faster, but the FR-S IS faster even in a straight line. But the X1 did really well in the twisty road we went, especially for a SUV. Not as good as the FRS but opened my buddy's eyes for sure!

But the X1 is heavier. It honestly depends on the track configuration.
