N4720C EGR and DPF delete?

Hi guys,

I new BMW driver, was wagen fan untill now

I am wondering does anyone have experience in blocking egr and deleting dpf on Bmw X1 18d 2010. Motor is n4720c.

What is your experience with this? Should I do it or not?

Thanks.

Hi, I do not recommend doing it, especially if you are new to BMW.
If you are looking for some DIY, you can clean EGR this is couple hour job if done carefully all you need is tools, EGR/carb cleaner spray, and a new O-ring. I think it is a great preventative maintenance, as EGR tends to accumulate lots of soot overtime which may impact its work.
For issues with DPF, using app few forced regenerations can be done at a good time on a motorway to help it clean itself.

I was not going to do it myself. There is chip tunning store in my city which is doing it. EGR and DPF off. But I do not know dowsides if I do it?

I think it would be wise to know upsides for removing these first of all, as DPF and EGR were both put in for a reason? And if you look at rules they are getting even tighter emission-wise. So its kicking against the pricks.
Having no EGR and DPF results in a tiny bit of power increase. Is it worth it, especially if the system functioning properly?

I understand. I have read about advantages and disadvantages for egr+dpf removal. Egr at first place is what concern me.

I am getting these codes on diagnostics, almost all related to egr/dpf:

DTC P14A3 BMW - Pressure Of Diesel Particulate Filter Implausible To Atmospheric Pressure Or Boost Pressure

DTC P115C BMW - MAF Sensor

DTC 4A6E BMW - Glow Plug

DTC 4933 BMW - Air system, air to EGR mass flow, plausibility

DTC 447B BMW - Lambda sensor 1 bank 1, oxygen concentration in overrun mode implausible

DTC 4D03 BMW - Exhaust back pressure bank1

Thats why I was thinking about egr+dpf removal. I have read online that egr blocking can couse problems with engine (higher combustion temps). Is this something I need to worry about? Is blocking egr bad for my engine?

I know all good sides, bit I am worried about downsides for egr blank. Is this true? Does egr blank damage n47 motors?

I would have started by replacing a MAF sensor, then I would have called forced DPF regeneration. If it works, it works. I had to do a software run for DPF at 120k miles, I had an error saying 'end of life reached' for DPF, but in fact is still in a good condition.
Running with this error for a very long time means no regeneration is taking place and is likely to result in a blockage sooner or later, so your worries are valid.
It seems error 1,2,4 are linked together and could have been sorted by replacing MAF sensor. 3 is a bad Glow plug which only affects cold starts and start/stop system. 4 and 5 looks like DPF errors.

Thanks for info!

I took my car to chip tunning house, they deleted eger and dpf.

Yet I have Glow Plug error left on diagnostics.

On cold weather I got this little blue smoke on exhaust only on start (2c); https://drive.google.com/file/d/11-P...w?usp=drivesdk

Later on warm weather (20c) nothing at all; https://drive.google.com/file/d/11-h...w?usp=drivesdk

This is glow plug oriented right?
