Plastic Jack Points on the X1

Hi, Has anyone used the Plastic Jack Points to lift their X1 up? I attempted to today and noticed that the 4 jack points are plastic and my hydraulic jack stand has a rounded lift point. I assumed it was metal until I started lifting and noticed 2 points in the square plastic lift point started to dent. I am thinking that I need a special adapter (or) if I can just put a piece of wood between my jack stand and the square plastic lift point. If any of you have done this I would appreciate knowing.

I am trying to remove my wheels in order to clean and wax the wide strip of grey rim behind the alloy wheel. It is not a very easy place to clean without scraping your hands up.

I use a 4x4 block of wood to prevent it from damaging the plastic. I did the same thing on my Saab and I do it on my wife's WRX.

Yup. This. I put a small block of wood between the jack and the jack point to prevent any damage.

ECS Tuning offers this, but a block of wood works just fine too

that hydraulic jack with round metal has slots where you can lock them in the X1 jack points. I think those jack points are not really plastic, just my opinion, more like some sort of composite made (very hard and strong). I took off all my wheels last week using same hydraulic jack with no block.

My jack stands are aluminum and i cut them to fit in. Also you can cut a piece of wood and stick in the jack points.

I bought one of those adapters from Fred Gwyn (sp) who advertises in the classified section of Roundel. Fast shipping and he's a BMW supporter.
